Has anyone ever fielded the horned one? And if so, how did you use it and the hero/lord it rode in on?

I love the idea of the horned one, +1 move and no stupidity for 15 pts more than a cold one is great and its the fastest moving thing in the LM army. The problem is that there arent really any decent magic items for him. If you give him a halberd you sacrifice your save, if you take a spear you need to get the charge which should only happend consistenly in a CoC unit, which are stupid anyway.

Scar-Vet, Horned One, LA, Shield, Biting Blade
is the only set up that works if you want magical attacks and good save, and he modifies armor by -3 which is pretty decent. I wouldn't normally field this guy, but if you field 3 scar vets (3 scar vets + lone slann can perform very well) then this becomes a good option as the other great set ups are already gonna be taken. Good way to add fear protection to a saurus unit without giving them stupidity as well, but with coldblood stupidity is pretty manageable imo.

i use a skink priest with horned one in my 1999 point list. the only reason i use him is because i don't have a model with the cloak of feathers yet and i converted this guy. he's done well for me in the last game, marching 16 saved him a few times but it just isn't better than a cloak of feathers. i run him lvl 2 horned one, plaque of tepok

the only use i can find for this guy is in a slann list based on channeling, then you have 1 priest with the cloak and the horned one can give another priest a big movement so he gets where you want him to be

has anyone ever used a scar-vet on a horned one as a battle standard cause i think that is the most viable way to use him you get the battle standard with a great move, no stupidity, and he can quite possibly help turn a combat your way in a pinch, just a thought

The BSB idea sounds pretty viable actually. But I like the idea of putting a priest on a horned one so that you get better movement if you don't have or want CoF.
