8th Ed. Host of Axn'kha Itzah [2400pts]

    Hi, I'm new, as my postcount indicates. I've returned to the game after a...2 year break I think, and I'm currently getting to grips with 8th Ed, I hope that this list demonstrates a good grasp of that. I've previously played Vampire Counts and Dark Elves in Fantasy and Chaos Space Marines in 40k, with VC being my largest army, but I got a small unassembled Lizardmen army before I left the game, and I have no doubt that they are my favourite so far in terms of lore etc. and plan to focus on them for now.

    I'd appreciate any criticism or advice you could give me about my list. At the bottom there are alterations I'm currently considering. Those are the main things I'm considering based on their maintaining the integrity of the theme, but I'd certainly not brush off other suggestions. A small note in regard to lores: I currently don't have Focus of Mystery, so that is why I have Heavens, but if I were to get it, based on the centre around Tetto'eko I'd probably still go with Heavens, even though I think that Light is probably better overall for this list (though I'd switch out Cloak of Feathers for Rod of the Storm as the main reason for my flying Priest is so I can Chain Lightning them on the first turn).

    is chain ligtning a magic missile if not you cant use the skink priest to fire from him.....
    you should not take rod of storms as you dont get the add dice and +4 that your slann gets dif is 7,5 and it costs 25 p.
    you should not take the forbidden rod unless you take lore of life its just to many wounds for to little dice when not having life. aaaand its an arcane item so are cupped hands wich means you cant have em both.
    tetto eko awesome choice and going both slann and him you should make a lot of irresistible forces having 2 wizards were one of them is a slann is overkill 3 is just wrong cap at 2 never ever 3.
    20 saurus with spears is to little at about 30 is good.
    21 skinks die like flies if they are going anywere but in a tablecorner letting tetto hail down comets they wanna be about 36-46 but the comet rain is a viable tactic and if slann also gets it.......
    and standard of dicipline needed and i dont feel done until i make the list at its max power.

    this list allows you to stay longer in combat with saurus and deal out more damage with magic
    and for my sake dont use lore of life when you have tetto youre wasting tetto but when using bot youre not

    Chain Lightning is not a magic missile RAWRRRRRRRRR, thanks for highlighting that for me, why does Warhammer like to kick me in the balls?. And ack, they are Cupped Hands is arcane isn't it...I'm just put off by the annoying proviso to Tetto'eko's cosmic event. A double on a successful casting roll gets you Irresistible Force. So I get my once per game cosmic event then end up with 2 PD...not great when you could be trying to roll the 24+ Uber Comet.

    Sorry, I have no idea what you're saying there. You'll have to be more clear.

    I'm not getting this overkill thing. Mainly I've got my third wizard for the flying vassal...which I now realise is not possible...This is really frustrating...The 24" unalterable range for Chain Lightning is annoying. He can still have the Slann cast Thunderbolt and Wind Blast through him as well as providing the chance for Comet and Chain Lightning in case the Slann has bad luck.

    Why do you say that 20 is too small, and cut out the Champions?

    The table corner isn't exactly what I had in mind, but I am going through the bunker outmanoeuvring the enemy route.

    With Cold-Blooded and Stubborn, Standard of Discipline really seems a foolish sort of overkill.

    I appreciate you enlightening me in regard to Chain Lightning and Forbidden Rod. I really liked that flying vassal mage idea...I'll really have to think about it. But the list you put down, by the way, is actually 2479.

    I think I will run a single Level 1 Skink Priest with the Forbidden Rod. That way I'll be able to keep both. What do you think about dropping 10 Skink Skirmishers and adding Becalming Agitation, 5 Skinks and Dragonfly of Quicksilver/Venom of the Firefly Frog or maybe Standard of Discipline?
