Okay, the store I tend to play at usually has a good number of elf players and they ALL field a dragon or even two. My question is tactically, how do you deal with a dragon in a Lizardmen army? Do you try to trap it in units to try and break it in flank attacks? Or do you tune models/units to go monster hunting?

Explain how non-dispel-able spells will make it easier for you to get Charm of the jaguar warrior off. :shifty:

Oldblood+shield+light armour+Blade of realities+Carnosaur and possibly some fancy trinket and you got yourself a good monster-hunter.
Now that's just in theory and you actually have to get to the monster in the first place and dragons fly... So getting the dragon to charge you isn't really that easy...

    But...
    Dragon-busters, go!

    Cheers!

See, the problem is that dragons fly and it's hard to try and get it in combat against a carny. Usually what happens is I try to chase it and it just flys away or at my sides and breaths on a unit then repeats. Are there unit formations that are good to cover your sides and possibly trap the dragon?

well I play againt a brother with a wyverin, so yeh, theyre nasty, sooooo heres a tactic I came up with!

this takes 2-4 units of skinks, mostly skirmishers!

I rushed up to it with javelin skinks, you may manage a wound or 2 with a fifty point unit.
Now, he's either going to charge you because your harrassing him, or fly away.

Make sure theres a 20"straight line of nothingness, and keep skirmishers back, if he charges you, choose to flee, and he'll move 20" forwards, now If your like me and have 3 skink units waiting to blowpipe it there, you can have 60 shots hitting on 4's or 5's....the poison will shred it....you'll get atleast 10 wounds-from just the poison-, and with a 3+ save, a bunch of those'll make a dent in anything

Full credit goes to the man who created this site, and although it no longer runs, i'll use it for tactics forever (he took down a bloodthirster like this!)

2 essentaly lvl. 3 casters will help any spell go off since there is that much more magic being cast and with a dragon he is not going to magic heavy

i was saying take the EotG for the spell casting they give not the abilities

those are also nice but the casting is what i was talking about especially if one of them has the plaque of tepok which one of them should

and not many people expect an oldblood JsoD so it will suprise a lot of people

Well it's a good idea but it IS a bit costy, just for that...

Skink skirmishers seem to do great against dragons along with expensive monster hunters like the Old blood JSoD. I prefer my cheaper skinks.
