My dice seem to hate me - Highlights of last nights game included: Failing LD9 Rerollable leadership tests - 5 times in a row. Failing 58 of 60 Armor Saves (in ONE TURN) Failing to hit anything with my temple Guard or saurus for the entire game. Miscasting twice every turn (man Portent of the far, Soul of stone helps) Rolling 1's for Fleeing and getting runned down by dwarfs. Failing stupid tests all 6 turns If it was one game I would have found it funny - but this the 5th game in a row now - My opponents have started taking outrages advantage of the situation because they know I won't be able to stop them. When other people use my dice, they work fine - what is a man to do ?
buddie im a way above ave dice roller to become one just figure out whats wrong with ur karma and fix it ... or burn the die lol
I always and I mean always Have 2 sets of Dice for my Friendlies I buy a brand new set of dice for every tournament I go to and throw them away after the tournament.
ive settled with the fact the dice gods hate me, i was fine until last year when i worked at GW, then if got the staff curse and its never left me, i always role high in warhammer and low in 40k, which while for my skinks is brillaint a 6's poision, the amount of times before 7th ed i miscast or failed that all important ld test, is at a record high
My dice shift, they seem average thou. I pretty much roll as it's supposed to when my models are unpainted(4+=50% hits) maybe 100% success on all my nicely painted models and 1-2% success with proxy models(my wood elves don't like being played as lizzies it seems) Unless it's my dice I had for christmas, THEY HATE ME! I'm going to avenge them one day, I surely will... Thanks for the burning idea.
My advice is, keep your dice with you, and pray to whatever deity/concept you serve to bring you a righteous challenge to overcome. Then put yourself in a position to be found by that challenge, be it a donation to charity, helping a friend in need, giving a man at a bar down on his luck a bit of good advice, or even defeating some menacing pest that is bringing harm to the unfortunate. Do you have a child? If you put off spending time with them to play warhammer that's a surefire way to invoke bad luck. If all that fails, you could avoid falling into the grips of the ritual spells that everyone else is suggesting you cast and simply attempt to influence probability by means of paradigm alteration. In other words, make yourself believe you are lucky. Thinking "I'm lucky" won't change your beliefs, but maybe if you sit and reflect on how much you have, certainly the free time and available funds to play 5 games of warhammer is something many people less fortunate then you don't have. Have you a talent that is above what the average person could aspire to? I find most Warhammer players are fairly intelligent, or at least well educated, focus on that, and you might just change your mind and decide that you ARE lucky. Remember that in our universe, there is no such thing as chaos, only entropy, and ingorance.
This is what i would do. Remember the dice that has disobeyed you Then freeze it and after it is good and cold put the other dice in a circle around it and smash it with a hammer while the other dice watch. Then to top it all off burn its pieces while the other dice watch again. I find that that is sufficient to scare them. Or you can just threaten them and give em another chance...thats what i did and it worked for me
You need to treat them properly, and roll them nicely. They don't like being rolled any old way, try to release all the dice you are holding at once, and don't forget your arm follow through up into the air to get your hands back away from them and give them space. Also pick your dice carefully, remember a dice that has just rolled to hit and wound on a warmachine is probably a bit tired and should be put aside until next turn. Let them rest, don't work them too hard, and roll them nicely and you should be ok. Also, don't get too angry at them for missing or they will get depressed. Just laugh it off.
Put all you're dice in a circle surrounding a blender, and drop a dice in it and tell those dice "This is what happens when you roll 1's" and turn that 1 unlucky dice into dust.
I just treat them with respect, and they tend to be respectable. Don't just let them lazy roll out of your hand as if you expect very little from them. This will lead to the fulfillment of your expectations. Give them a good roll, and let them get some good exercise. As with dogs, you can exhaust the misbehaviors out of them. Put slightly more scientifically... you will tend to pick up dice a certain way, and a lazy roll will likely cause results that skew away from the expected randomization. Shaking the dice well and giving them a good roll will allow the dice to randomize as best they can, although due to imperfections in the manufacturing process, a six sided-die will not usually equally represent all of its sides. Those who favor public executions of offending dice are likely weeding out dice whose imperfections lead to poorer rolls. For more info, check out this youtube thing on dice. It is mildly interesting to the uber-geek we all harbour within us.... Part 1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?gl=AU&hl=...p;v=bR2fxoNHIuU Part 2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?gl=AU&hl=...feature=related Makes you want to special order some proper dice...
Destroy your dice. Others shouldn't use them. I have about 10 different sets of dice, each for a different game/army. The dice I use are linked to the army. So for my Lizardmen I use my blue/green dice and Tau I use my ochre dice, etc. Or you could get loaded dice... hahaha
You and I MUST play a game - it will be hilarious! Scenes from my last game with my Dark Elves: 1) Assassin pops out and attacks Warrior Priest. Rolls all 1s and 2s. Thank god for hatred, right? Rolled them all over again. All four dice - 1s and 2s (that's 8 dice rolled total). 2) Sorceress miscast three times that game, twice using only two dice to cast Power of Darkness. Took a wound from one of the miscasts, but used my kaeleth ward save. Rolled a 6 (Fail). 3) Black Guard stubborn on a 9 rolled an 11 to hold and then a 12 to rally the next turn, finally rallying on the third. Those were just the highlights, there was more. Just not my night! So, where do people buy decent dice. I have three sets plus a ton of random, but none of the sets roll very well. Any suggestions?
I think I know your problem... you need to play lizardmen. Rolling that third die for Ld tests is going to make all the difference.
LOL. I DO play Lizardmen! Or I wouldn't be here. And yes, the third die helps a lot! 'course my last game, the skink priest on EotG miscast two turns in a row, taking two ST8 hits and dying. Fortunately, my dwarven opponent blew his anvil up, and I had a massacre, so it worked out...
I hate when my anvil blows up so much. People complain about how the anvil can't be dispelled... they don't realize that it always has a 1/36 of blowing up and taking about 400+ points with it (plus 100 for slain general usually)! It's a substantial risk every time you use it (considering the points swing), some rounds if it is near the end of the game I won't even hit the thing for fear of a last minute loss, unless it is absolutely necessary. I will be having my priest on engine just dumping his 2 power dice into the diadem of power. Any spells I cast would be dispelled anyway, and if I rolled 2 dice I'd probably miscast. Alas, I've gone and taken cold ones, I'm preparing for them to go stupid on me...
It's a longstanding tradition in my home to bring a blowtorch with me to tournaments. We melted a die down last tourney (Actually, no we didn't. The thing wouldn't melt, it just softened up. We had to get a rock and crush it). We need to get Chessex to start building houses out of those things!
You're joking, a blow torch didn't melt the dice? Wow... I wonder what kind of polymer they are made out of.
i assume you mean the little propane torch cause if you were using oxygen and acetling those are good for exploding rocks and melting aluminum in my exp. but is still a good thought to make and example out of one of those disrespectful dice
