so I made a list today that has 3 ancient stegs at 3k. EOTG Chief with spear nillla ancient. this did not allow for any scar vets.... but I like the idea of these 3 terrors running around with etherial slann to back them up. thoughts? is this to much?
Go for 5! (or even 6) really scare some people. Lord Tehenauin with EoTG Hero Lvl with EoTG 2 Ancients 1 Regular I think at 3000 you can fit 2 regulars and still have the points for core! GO CRAZY! I would wet myself unless I was Dwarves or Empire and saw that.
Myself, I would also suggest a all or nothing steg list. Pretty much if your counting on your troop blocks to win the game, I suggest maxing out your rare slots in Salamanders, more bang for the points. I'm sure an argument can be made to bring a normal steg or a skink chief on a steg, if you have the points, however if you fight someone with cannons, expect the steg to die early.
typically I run 2 steg in all list and run them as a pair. If they survived shooting then my oponent typically stays away from them. Allowing me to control a side ofthe board.
not sure he is a heritic I have been looking at other posts and thinking a unit of krox may be more effective??
considering a shade over 300 points gives you 28 skinks and 3 krox in a lovely 12" marching horde. I love them, and less likely to attracting attention from cannons. Yours Aye Mixer
Stegadons certainly serve a purpose in 8th. However, their inclusion in lists is not almost completely based on user choice. I use mine to clear away low strength, high number of attack units, like Savage Orcs. That way the increased toughness soaks up the damage and keeps that unit away from the rest of my units.
Slann Rumination Plaque of Tepok 60 Saurus Spears Command Steg Steg Steg Steg Steg Steg Ancient Steg Ancient Steg 3000 exactly. Go big or Go home
well.................................. i guess that is one way to do it. i'd love to see the look on the faces of everyone else as you take each steg individually out of the box ready to set up. "how many stegs you got?" "one or two..........." 1 steg, 2 steg, 3 steg, 4 steg. it would be awesome. Yours Aye Mixer
I am looking at going one of two ways at this point. either I ditch them all together (BOO HISS) and use 2 units of 6 krox. Or I run 3 of them. I like the idea of a normal steg and a Skink hero steg running around on a flank, then placing the engine in the middle of the army to support my Saurus. another consideration though is in my group we play unit heavy blcoks of 30+ models and evey unit has a hero orlord in it. This make stegs less useful I feel thus my orignial question. Plus our dam skinks are squishy combat resolution
