I've been idly considering getting a Lizzie army for some time now, and recently I was lucky enough to get a box packed full of Sauruses and Skinks for a bargan price. Not many command groups or characters, but I can convert those easy enough. So, is 50ish Saurus and 70-odd Skinks going to be enough? Too much? And where should I go from here? I know I want monsters, even though they aren't terribly point-effective in 8E. There's just something about having rules to actually allow me to play with toy dinosuars that really takes me back...
What size game are you playing? At around 2k that should be enough. Depending on the theme of your army, 70 skinks is actually a hell of a lot, unless you play a skink horde army of course. Saurus should typically be in units of 24 minimum, so you could form 2 units of 25 saurus.
He got in first. LM core is actually quite good, if like the rest of the army a bit expensive. It also doesn't benefit from the horde and supporting attacks rules as much as some other armies as the saurus lose one of their profile attacks while supporting and it is debatable whether you can have krox in the third rank of a skrox unit.
Saurus have 2 standard attacks on profile, the rules (e.g. bite attacks) that limited spear saurus to 1 attack are obsolete, but I wasn't referencing those rules. The current supporting attack rule is the rule that means that the saurus lose the 2nd attack on their profile due to being infantry.
Well, that is definitely a good base for your army No matter what size you should have a good start there up to about 2,000 points. And the best part about all the extra skinks you can convert them into heroes, chameleon skinks, and extra handlers
That was exactly what I was thinking. I recently heard about the possibilities of converting Lizzie Cold Ones into Salamanders and Razordons. Anyone here done that conversion?
