If you Mystic shield it and keep it in combat it's very hard to kill, as long as it causes damage it heals D3 wounds
Dread Saurian's best friends: - Starpriest (mystic shield and serpent staff and Starlight) - Priest (rerolls) Starseer is also cool. His spell that is. So taking a Slann with the Skink spells trait makes the Dread Saurian pretty awesome I guess.
I'm currently planning a 1500 point list that is basically a dread saurian, slann, starpriest, priest and starseer all just buffing the dread then teleporting in to murder things.

You can give it a 2+rerollable save that heals D3 a turn. It shouldn't really die unless they over commit a lot to it or it gets gimmicked by Archaon. Everytime I've used mine my opponent usually ignores it to kill other units like my priests or Slann so it causes a lot of damage (probably not earning its points back but who cares)
Take auto unbind with Starpriest to stop that happening In all honesty I'm really stoked with my first use of the Dread Saurian! He definitely exceeded expectations in the game I had. And the heal during both yours and your opponents combat phase when you do a single 1 damage is great!
It might be fun to use firelance with dread. lots of battleshock play with dread, carnosaur, and stardrake icons. priests + kroak should have no problem keeping buffs going kroak - 450 scar vet on carnosaur - 240 priest - 80 starpriest - 80 40 skinks - 200 3 x 5 knights - 300 dread - 400 firelance starhost - 110 rippers - 140 2000/2000
Dread's at 380 points now I'll be using mine much more often after my last game he might even have a place regularly in competitive lists!
What I had completely overlooked is the Skink Starpriests Serpent Staff doubling the damage from the jaws. Combined with the Curse of Fates it's going to get bloody really fast! Can't wait to field one!
If you're gutsy enough to commit. Run allegiance Order and bring in a lore master rerolls hit and wound, Amber battlemage for +1 to wound and a skink starpriest for double damage now on 5's and 6's you are doing some hefty numbers there!
Tasty. Worth losing the teleport is the question. Using a priest, starpriest, starseer and a slann you can get a pretty beasty dread teleporting in. +2 to charge and rolling charges.
Don't forget that after you cast Curse of Fates that you'll get to move after teleporting 33% of the time. So you'll have a guaranteed charge.
