How the hell are you supposed to keep the slann up?

If it's falling over: Where did you place the plastic stand? Have you tried weighing it down with rocks/pennies/etc?
If the stand fails: Get something stronger, or a new stand.

But seriously, you may have to get a little creative. Lots of people, myself included, have sculpted a more scenic base, and disguised the flying stand in with the base. For example, I sculpted a lot of skulls onto my base, so it looks like my Slann is resting his palanquin on a pile of skulls. Just use your imagination - there's plenty of solutions to this all-too-common problem.

You could also pick up an acrylic cylinder (from a hobby town or any where that may sell plastics). The cylinders are a little more durable for the bases. I use them on my terradons.

Anyway, mine came cast a bit funny... the plastic rod would only fit in at a 45degree angle!
so the way I kept my afloat was with a drill bit and a LOT of greenstuff at the base and the top.

actually, I thought the 6th edition slann [may be 5th too, who cares] where the temple guards carried him was really cool.. apart from the model, I think they've improved the slann model.
so, personally, when I get to buy my slann, I'll try to look for something in that direction. because this does look rather fragile indeed

Yea the stupid plastic rod broke on lord kroak again last week,
so this time instead of using anothe plastic rod or reglueing that one,
I drilled out the remains on the plastic and mounted a nail clean through the bottom of the base
and super glued it in place on both sides, that ought to hold it this time.

I actually didn't use the stand and glued it straight onto the base. If done right then it can work, but I might need to re-base him on a stronger rod or make something scenic-y, since he's having trouble ranking up with my TG (I only used to use him on his own, so it was never a problem).

This is unusual, my Slann stands up perfectly on it's base

I used 2.5mm brass rod to support mine.

Similar to what crouchingotter used I bought a fairly thick (can't remember exactly how thick) aluminum rod and cut it into 3 equal lengths. I then drilled 3 holes in the bottom of the palaquin and inserted the rods (giggity lol). When it comes time to paint I plan on modelling the rods as vines or some sort of plant . Hope this get's some ideas flowing for ya.

Im currently sculpting m own from scratch as im not to keen on the model.

The throne im making is base 'foam card' and green stuff over the top for texture and detail, and weighs vertually nothing.
