The skaven book is now upon us. We will probably be seeing loads of new skaven players trying out all their new fancy toys. The question I pose to you is how do we lizzies deal with this rush.

I think the main problem elements of new skaven armies will be:
    Abomination
Plague Priest in Unbreakable plague monks with Plague furnace
    Censor Bearers now being special
    Doom Wheel

I'd like to know what people will do to fight this rush of Plague related rodent armies?

Paint you anvils yellow (they'll think it's cheese and run into the trap!!)

Doomwheels, you avoid them with small expensive units. They get 3 SRT:5-10 shots at your unit, with no saves.

My Coldone got pummled because each turn they would loose 3 more, and the wheels can move up to 18" a go., easliy out stripping the 14" of a coldone.

The only way to kill them is with magic. A turn or two of forked lightning will get rid of it, just make sure it happens before the wheel gets to you.

I don't really know yet how to deal with alot of their new crap, but I still have my fingers crossed for Blade of Realities auto instant killing the plague/screaming bell. :bored:

Same as I deal with everything else! Avoid and blow up/impale with scores of poisoned darts. So lead any furnaces/bells around with terradons or skinks all game and pepper abominations/doomwheels with blowpipes as well as using fire (or maybe sometimes death, but fire is desired for abomination) as it is so good agains large units (imagine wall of fire on a large frenzied unit). Towards the end if things have gone favourably plow into the flank/rear of any large units with saurus/COR/EotG, preferably in a combo charge. Salamanders will be nice and terradons would be good at taking out more dangerous weapons teams (they'd get a 6+ save and then a ward against S4 rocks).

I fought the new Skaven on the weekend...

The Doomwheel, it is very very random and comes down to luck of the dice. It shoots at the closest unit friend or foe, though he may try to restrain it on Ld7, this means you should try to keep his units closer to it for as long as possible. It doesn't get slowed down by terrain and doesn't need LoS to charge so be very careful! It can be extremely fast in getting to your warmachines if you aren't LM or whatever is hidden behind/in woods. Yes it takes damage, but only d3 s4 hits and the thing is t6 so that amounts to nothing.

I ignored it and it really didn't cause much harm. Mostly rolled really low numbers for movement though, which was lucky. Do not let it get into your flank or you are in a world of trouble. At the front its not really much worse than a normal chariot.

The abomination; easily one of the cheesiest things in the entire game, I cannot understand what the hell GW were thinking. Most friendly games you shouldn't see one if your opponent is respectful. One thing that hasn't been mentioned anywhere is that if even a single wound goes on it that is flaming, it cannot roll to come back to life when it dies. So hit it with some fire.

I faced a fairly friendly list though, nothing too overpowered. Ratling guns are a lot less scary now that they need to roll to hit, they do a lot less damage. As usual, flanking the Skaven is key so they lose their leadership rank bonus and all fall apart.

It was a fun and close fought game, but my High Elves prevailed. Getting some revenge from all the hurt in 6th ed with the crappy HE book. :p
