    Hallo!

I´ve been planning to start up a Lizardmen army for a while, and I´m going to buy some stuff when I´m London. But I don't know what to buy... I´m going to start off with a 1000-1500pts army. I'll be facing my friends High Elves, and I got a couple of friends who are just about to start playing Warhammer, so Wood Elves and Dwarfs will probably also be my enemies.

So, what should I buy to be able to build a Lizardmen army that can compete? The armybook, of course, but after that? Is the battallion a good choice, together with a Skink Priest and a Scar-Vet?

    Thanks;

    David

The battalion is a great place to get started. 20 Saurus models, combined with Skinks, Temple Guard, and Saurus Cav, give you a brutally effective Core army. Saurus are some of the best infantry in the game, and with a small unit of Temple Guard to aid them it's just icing on the cake.

As you said, you will need some characters. I would buy the Scar Vet first and then the Skink (unless you plan on buying them all at once). After you buy those guys, seriously consider a Stegadon. Stegadons, whether the Special or Rare version, are just plain awesome. They will really lend themselves to a 1500 point force and, eventually, to a 2,000 or 2,250 point army.

As start a battalion box is a good choice.. followed by some Terradon and atleast 1 Stegadon. Followed by that you could start thinking about Salamanders/Razordons.

I just started such an army myself and all the advice is good. The battalion + a few extra specials is the way to go!

Hmm I started with a stegadon since that is what pushed me to start the army in the first place. :D They are a great choice, but toward building an army the battleforce is a pretty good way to go.

    Thank you for answering!

I'll probably stick to the battalion, one or two characters and a Stegadon (really cool model by the way). After that, a Salamander, some Terradons, more Skinks and a Slann is coming right up.

    Thanks

as noted the battalion is a good choice. The stegadon too, if you got spare bases you get a skink priest and a skink chief in the steg box or you could mount them on the steg and still get a skink priest and chief(but with mount) and an EoTG(engine of the gods) or ancient stegadon whilst you're at it!

Seriously consider cold ones too... They're good, actually they are...

    Cheers!

I'm doing an odd one, getting two battallion boxes. Then another two boxes of saurus to round out my unit sizes. and two boxes of skinks, one for skirmishers, and one to combine up to make skink/kroxi packs. yeah yeah, I know they're not cool, but I want to field southland style skink only armies later. from there, tossing a slann in and the kroxigors I need to field the mixed units.

then I get to the fun stuff =9

but I'm planning on long term 6-10K points depending how well things go @.@ like, over four years hopefully. so that gives me a big base of core units to play with.

I'm a firm believer in core units. Having a versatile amount of them, armed differently, with the potential for different unit sizes has appealed to me. With all those Sarian infantry, I would recommend equipping some with spears and some with hw/sh so you have some options to play with when creating lists that tailor to your opponents. Getting an idea of what is most effective against the group you play against is really what will probably be the deciding factor. Good choice on the core units though.

Id say get the battalion box, its what i did and it worked out pretty well for me. After that Id move onto a special/rare unit. I plan on picking up an EotG next though.

Wow thats a lot of points you plan on getting :jawdrop: . I like it ;)
