So i'm a new lizardmen player. just got my first 2 games in this weekend. This is what i brought: (keep in mind that this is all that i had to make a 2250 list. I still need to get some more models) Skink Chief -stegadon -warspear Skink Priest -EotG -lv 2 -dispell -diadiem Scar-Vet -BSB -Burning Blade of Chotec -Shield of Mirrored Pool 18 Saurus Warriors -spears, Musican, Standard 18 Saurus Warriors -spears, Musician, Standard 10 Skink Skirmishers 10 Skink Skirmishers 5 COC 3 Salamanders -extra handlers 3 Razordons -extra handlers I first played a dwarf line which i thought was the chessiest thing that he could do because i told him this was going to be my first game with lizzies. he blew me apart. i then played tomb kings and this guy killed me faster than the dwarf line. i don't have terradons yet or chameleons. how do i stop the warmachines cause i realized this is what was killing me the most. thanks!!
The things that will help you the most against gunlines are the things you do not have (yet!). Terradons and Chameleon Skinks. In the meantime what can you do to help yourself make it across the board safely? You could try to magic away those warmachines? Or you could try to get more skink units to help absorb the damage? Use the EotG ward save, hide in that protective bubble!
you know... i tried that but i still got blown away. by the time i got to the gunline i was at 25% of my army. i did shred apart that gunline but it still wasn't enough because i still got killed, so bad that there were no more models. but i was thinking of terradons. but our local game shop here doesn't have any and we have to special order them in order for me to actually get some.
That will be true of any independent retailer. Terradons (and chameleon skinks, Saurus heroes, most lords, razordons, and Kroxigors) are direct order only. A shop is actually in violation of Games Workshop rules if they were to order them to put on a shelf to sell at a later date. Games Workshop has some silly rules like that designed to help increase profit margins on certain items. You have only a few choices. 1. Order them through your local store (and hope your store's owner/manager is a complete cheapskate who will wait for enough of those special orders to accumulate so he has enough dollars worth of items to get free shipping ). Yeah, it'll be even longer until I see my third and fourth terradons which I ordered on January 29th. 2. Order from Games Workshop website. They often have free shipping, and do right now until the end of this month. 3. Check eBay.
I'm relatively new to the game, but all I do is fight a friend who has dwarves, so I have some experience dealing with war machines. Terradons will help, but a Slann with Lore of Shadows is the bomb. The Pit of Shades will take care of one mahcine, and casting Steed of Shadows on a Scar-Vet will take out another. Back that up with another Scar-Vet with the Jaguar charm, and you've got three machines taken out in one round! If you lack a Slann, flying characters will still help a great deal. Put the Cloak of Feathers on a skink chief and give him an additional hand weapon and Venom of the Firefly Frog. If you have magical backup, give a Scar Veteran the Jaguar Charm. If you lack a Slann, it's probably better to negotiate a lower points value for the battle, and tailor the force you bring to the opposition. Razordons aren't great against Dwarves, and definitely leave the Shield of the Mirrored Pool at home. I'm not sure Stegadons are that valuable either, since they're vulnerable to war machines.
you know what's funny??!! I am a dwarf player!! that was my very first army and Lizardmen are is my second army. so i'm very familar with dwarfs. its just that i've never played an all out gunline with my dwarfs because i'm not that chessy and i like competition so yeah. I know what dwarfs can do but man!! i'm just trying different ways on how to destroy them without using terradons or chameleons. But lore of shadows looks like something i could try out. Thanks!
