Forum challenge!! Hey guys and gals, I have a club vs club tourney coming up in November and was wondering if at 1,000 points an all skinks army would be competitive? I wouldn't include kroxigor in skink units. Thoughts? Also if you think its competitive, what would you use as a list? -raz
Not sure why you wouldn't include Krox in your skink units. They are well within the fluff of your theme, as would be stegadons and terradons and salamanders. I could see an army including these, with a nice helping of skink chiefs as being very competitive. Unless you are playing against a boosted level 4 wizard, I find a level 2 Priest with the Daidem of Power is quite capable of a decent magical defense (add a second one with the Cube of Darkness and you'd be just fine).
I havent read up on the fluff yet, are krox and skinks truly fluffy together? If so I'm ordering krox now
Yes if you read the army book, Krox used to have an ability called "spawn kin" which allows them to join skink rank and file units. They come out of the same spawning pool or something like that. The Krox listing says how they fight in combat, the skinks scout ahead and chitter back to the Krox when they find the enemy and the Krox comes to smush them. So yes, if you are going to take a skink army, take Krox as well. Salamanders and stegadons are your friends too. Many skink lists are so called because they have no saurus, not because they have all skinks.
