Pretty new to AOS in general and was immediately drawn to Seraphon. I especially like the idea of running a lot of big beefy Dinos. I have an idea where I use some of the larger models (Kroxigors/Monsters) to beat face and subdue opponents. Meanwhile I take objectives with Saurus and Cavalry. I understand that the "optimal option" is using slaan, wizards and magic, but I'm wanting to go a different route.
I don't have anyone that knows Seraphon in my community so I'm genuinely hoping for any input or reccomendations. All I've done so far is play the Spearhead army, but I'd love to expand. Any info would be appreciated. Thankyou!

    Welcome along!

New year, new army ;) and what is better than lizards riding dinos? :)
I am not the one to talk tactics and strategy, I only collect and paint, but others might be able to help you out.
When building your army consider starting a painting blog over in de subforum, both to show your progress and keep yourself motivated.

Have fun in our Jungle and may the stars be ever in your favor.

Welcome to the Jungle @Oka. Seraphon's monsters are not in the best place this edition, but no army's monsters are in a great spot. GW really pulled back on them.

That said, our Bastiladon with Ark of Sotek (that's the version with the snakes) is our best all around. It has one of the best monster rampages in the game, a 2+ armor save, and 12 wounds. It is a little slow, with just 5" move, and is susceptible to Mortal Wounds (but most units are).

Our Stegadons got a real damage nerf this season, so they aren't as strong as they were in 3rd. In the right lists, our Engine of the Gods Stegadon can be usable. The Engine works very much like a priest, and it can be a good healing platform for our monsters or other multi-wound units, like Kroxigor and Aggradons.

The Stegadon Chief is basically just a Stegadon, with an extra set of Chief attacks and an ability that only helps 'Skink' infantry/cavalry. But, it does have a very good rampage if you can charge with it. It surprises with how much damage it can do. Mine has only ever died in a battle, but I might be fielding it too aggressively.

Carnosaurs really should be better. If you spike well with hits/wounds, and your enemy whiffs save rolls, then it can surprise. But our Carnos often get targeted and don't last too long with their 4+ save. Regardless, it can be a very good monster on the flanks to attack small heroes, standard infantry, or as an additional attack in a bigger hero. If you attack anything with a 3+ save, it will probably bounce off. But, because it can spike damage and looks scary, people tend to send strong units to attack it. While those units are wrapped up in combat the Carno, your other units can be working elsewhere to take objectives and/or attack more manageable units. Don't underestimate "Terror."

The Oracle on Troglodon is a monster and a wizard (built from the Carnosaur kit). It's not a necessarily a melee combat master, but it is a decent support monster. It has 1 cast/unbind, it heals on its own, a useful support rampage, and ranged attacks. It can still bind up and/or defeat a small unit of standard infantry. Don't underestimate "Terror."
