I was the same way. Although I play currently Eldar, Tyranid were my first army and I have always had two loves in Warhammer lol Lizardmen and Nids!

Hey welcome! I know what you mean, I personally like the Salamanders for 40k just because I can use some of the lizardmen bits to help show their salamander background. I have found that there's lots of things that can transition over to help model a pretty good "themed" 40k army. Good luck with fantasy, I think you'll love it. Welcome again.
