Hey, this week end gonna have a game against my friend who collects Vampire counts. Im not really sure what to take Vs them... its gonna be a 2000pts game, and this is roughly his list. Imba fighty lord, bout 400pts, Which will be placed in a unit of Hardy Blood knights. Worth bout 800 for it all :\. A vamp hero which is gonna be used to raise his army higher then starting value. so just magicy. A fighty vamp, which im scared of For core; skeleies, zombies, a small unit of ghouls, dire wolves and corpse cart. Dont think has any special atm... But for rare, hes got the blood knights as i said before^ but he also has a dreaded Varghulf!! I have pretty much all the units in the lizardmen army, just not sure what to bring to counter this... would love some help
A great tactic is to get your combat res as high as you can, a big unit with standards, BSB, Warbanner, and you should watch the undead explode over your ranks. Also take a nice Nike Saurus who can whipe out thier casters, or general and it'll be game over for them.
yeah the combat res is a gd idea But, i know hes gonna have all his heros in units so the Nike saurus aint gonna work
Indeed. Charge the unit and challenge. But i tink it would be better to hit the unit with salamanders, and tons of magic ( if you are fielding our beloved toad ). Afterall.. my general idea of handeling vampires is to eliminate there general. Also, use some terradons or scouting skinks, to march blok his army. Vampires already are slow, and you can use this in your advantage. Try charging those skelletons and zombies in there flank and they will drop right back into there little graves. Kroxigors of saurus cav are great for this. On the varghulf.. just shoot it down It can't fly, and if your good in "skink dancing" there should't be a real problem. HK
Yeah man let us know what your list is so we can better assist you. 20 Saurus will kill (either outfight or combat res) anything in his list. Even the Varghulf if you keep it in front of you. Bring the cube of darkness to hopefully shut down a crucial magic phase. Use skinks or even better terradons to force charge his blood knights into some woods or to the far end of the table. Again i say though. Post your list for us
This shouldnt be too difficult. You should take 2 units of 15 skinks 1 unit to scout with javlins & the other (non scout) unit with blowguns, NOW you want to shoot at his wolves wich most likely be screening hos Blood knights. 1 round should wipe out 5-6 of them (wolves) now bait his BK with your skinks &/or Terrordons NOTEosition them so (according to the rules when charging SKIRMISH troops you MUST charge in the DIRECTION of the CLOSEST model) they expose their flank or rear then you go in for the kill a combined assault of CoR & Kroxis!!! now on the other side of things SHOOT SHOOT SHOOT your Sallies into that dreaded Vargulf (flame negates regen). DONT I repeat DONT make your Sauras units more than 10 models, I say this because a block of more than that are a waste, sure they hit hard but the Danse Spell is a Vampires best weapon, a skilled VC general will make you waste all your DD on his rasing spells & danse his Blood Knights, Black Knights or Grave Gaurd at your flanks & slowy widdle your army down to nil, a unit of 20 Sauras will be difficult to manuver & will be the last unit on the table come game end (a smart opponent will avoid it) so 2 units of 10 with speas & no command has always worked in my favour (plus it save you points to spend on your Skirmish units) Take my advice for I am a Vet of both Lizzies & VC's I know these armies stregnths & weakness. so with about 5 Skirmishing units (x2 Skinks, x2 Terr, x1 Sallies) you should be able to not only out manuvor him you can use the rule above to force him to expose his underbelly!!!! YES I LOVE THIS GAME!!! BTW: if you want to get cheesy take 2 units of sallies & SHOOT EVERY F*CKN THING!!!..LMAO have fun & let us know how it went. ~W.Dawg
If you really want those Blood Knights and the General that travels with him, Spirit of the Forge should make a happy ending for you by turn 2.
Slann with Bane head on general, Rule of Burning iron + Spirit of the Forge... if those spells get out.... Game is won for u the second u bring the unit of his bloodknights + general down. Seems too easy.... P.S. I think both rule of burning iron + spirit of the forge are Flaming attacks... not sure but check it to be sure he doesn't do regen saves he shouldn't be doing...
Heya. Thanks for all the tips. Just gonna post my first draft list on the Other part of the forum So check it out
