I found this as I was reading my copy of the new book this morning.

    Skink Priest
    Level 2 Upgrade
Ancient Stegadon + Engine of the Gods
Plaque of Tepok (or whatever +1 spell item is now)

Engine of the Gods gives the bearer +1 PD and DD, so he is now effectively a level 3 hero! Pretty cool, if a bit expensive. Imagine this combo with a Slann, ULTIMATE MAGIC PHASE OF DOOM!!!!!!!!! :bored:

Scary enough, points permitting, you could have 3 priests on EotG and one Slann...so a terrifying pool of magic. Not to mention we can put lores at -1 for casting requirement.

i know it'd be overpowered but think if they forgot to print that each Engine have to choose a different lore

Lol, that'd be sick, that's what it would be! Get four EotG and reduce Heavens by 4, that'd be hilarious. Good thing they put it in though, lol.

You can't lower the same Lore twice. The EotG specifically says if you have another EotG, you must pick a different Lore.

Still a cool option and I plan to have 2 lists using the same Steg model. One list will use it as a Priest on the EotG, the other will be as a Chief BSB.

I really don't see the point of a Skink Chief. Maybe only to take the Stegadon War-Spear.

the point of a skink cheif is to have a BSB on a steg. The cheif is a good character now since he has a higher LD and the most mount options on any other character in the book. He can ride both kinds of stegs, a terradon which makes him able to join terradon units, and the horned one from the magic items section.

The skink cheif has really come into his own in the new book.

I'm still not all that imprssed with him. I might test him out in a game or two, if I don't like, I always have the trusted Saurus.

i'd rather have a chief just as a BSB, but on a steggi? :shifty: that's a bit to expensive and tough guy for me, i'd rather have them as FSOMP(flying skink of magic poison)

The weapon which allows the stegadon to get 2d6+1 impact hits is insane! And it counts as a lance as well so extra strength on the charge. The ancient steg has s6, I drool at all those impact hits. I got a look at the new book in GW today, it looks great. And they had a stegadon model (new one), it isn't quite as big as I thought it would be but looks very very cool.

would the +2 strength apply to the impact hits tho? or just the normal attacks of the rider

Nah the lance's +2 strength would just count for the guy holding it not the impact hits... If not, S8 impact would be rediculous. :p

But the steg's strength is 6, so the impact hits will be at s6 which is still very powerful. Or s5 for a normal steg, not ancient.

Yeah...2D6+2 impact hits is nothing to sneeze at, especially at Str 6...

thing is, that you can't have the skink as a BSB if your going for something hardhitting like that. but that truly is something to be afriad of. BHA! giants.

I personally think the Skink Chief has become a much more valuable character choice. I think the ability to go on a Terradon, Horned One or Steg as increased his value. Having a Ld of 8 (with steg helm) has also made him valuable as a general. If you have a JSoD or something that you know will die (TSoD) then get a cheap Chief, stick the Steg Helm on him and let HIM be your general.

It sounds incredibly stupid but it might just work.

Why not? It would make him that much more of a target, but now since the HE army book you are able to still give full equipment to the BSB, which first of all spawned ASF great weapon weilding High Elf BSB's. Now, I could see the steg lance being a useful, if fragile, BSB since he will be right in the thick of the action. And converting a bsb pole on a stegadon would be much fun and look very very cool IMO.

the character can be fully equipped? That's SICK! really want the book now, and don't want to wait 'til tuesday. :(

well, since the lance seems to be waiting for my skink, he might just accidently pick up a banner too.

Just remember you still can't have magic items and a magic banner... So if you take a magic banner, you can only have mundane weapons and armour. And if you take the magic lance, you can only have a mundane BSB. Still very good though. There is really no reason not to whack BSB on one of your characters in the newer books.

Not to mention with that BSB, you'll have a Stubborn, Immune to Psych monster using it's rider's Ld 7 AND it gets to re-roll! Ha!

i don't care for the magic banners, they haven't caught me yet, so i will have to see the banners for the new book.

come on, fear, on a terror causing unit? nothing cheesy as the We magic resistance. :p
