    I will be joining an escalation league in april but the local store doesn't have any copies of the 8th edition rule book so I now have no clue what I am doing list wise any more.

    Rule is 25% max lord
    25% max char
    25% min core
    50% max special
    25% max rare
    (I believe)
    So just total up the point value of your minis in each category and make sure its valid

    does my engine of the gods count as rare or as part of the character?

    The Engine Steg counts as part of the character so your heroes are over by a bit.

    hmm maybe I'll drop teh scar vet in exchange for a oldblood on a carnasaur

    Your Slann cannot have Cupped Hands and Diadem of Power.
    These are both Arcane items and you are only allowed one item from each section.

    Which of the ancient disciplines are you taking?
    If you take Focus of Mystery (which i would really suggest) then you get all of the spells from your chosen Lore.

    My own suggestion would be to take Mystery with the Slann and drop the Diadem.
    Also you will find that your Slann will then be using all of your power dice making the extra Skink priest a little superfluous (and you will probably find you wont get to save 2 dice very often so wont miss the Diadem).
    I would take the priest just as a level 1 and exchange the Wardrum and Plaque of Tepok for the Cube of Darkness
