I am joining an Arena of Death with multiple weights. We are allowed to enter one entry per weight with the following rules:
I was thinking about going about it like this:

Light: Scar-vet w/Hide of the Cold Ones, Great Weapon, Shield

Medium: Scar-Oldblood w/Shield, Light armor, Scimitar of the Sun Resplendent, Bane Head, Glyph Necklace, Mounted on a Cold-One

Heavy: Scar-Oldblood w/Shield, Light armor, Blade of Revered Tzunki, Glyph Necklace, Mounted on a Carnosaur

Unit: 22xTemple guard(includes banner carrier and revered guard with the Burning Blade of Chotec)(5x4 formation with 2 leftover in the 5th row),

    Tactics:
With the lightweight, I'm hoping my scar-vet will be protected by T6 and able to cause some real hurt with the GW.

Midweight: Try to drown my opponent with doubling up wounds and has a high armor save.

Heavyweight: I figured that heavy weight would be a good time to start ignoring armor saves and the increased strength helps too. Carnosaur will hopefully get some bites in :artist: .

Unit: Temple Guard seem to be excellent all rounders. The Burning blade on the Revered Guard is sort of a precaution against ethereal units and good against 'weak vs fire' units.

Any comments and suggestions would be helpful. I'm thinking about changing my midweight to a Blade of Realities+enchanted shield combo. Do you think that would work better?

Very good actually. As for the Blade of Realities...it's definately worth a thought. The down side is you won't have a Ward save and at that cost, it's not hard for an opponent to have weapons that ignore armor saves, and Saurus aren't the quickest bunch. So I'd stick with what you have.

man lizardmen seem perfect for this style of play

ever though of (for a heavy weight) a skink chief on an ancient steg with the war spear?

I agree with Dalkarius. A nice and balanced list indeed. I don't have my armybook yet( :( ) but if pts allow it, I would liked to have LA rather than a shield in your light weight list. Tough, it seems you've thought things through, so I guess it would exceed pts limit..

    Re: Joining an AoD(comments pls?)

Thanks for the comments so far.

That was what I was thinking and even with 5 attacks, I'd have to be pretty lucky about my opponent failing the leadership test(as I'm pretty sure most will have Ld9 at the very least)

I thought about that, but the skink cheif is still only a skink. Those impact hits would really have to win fight because the skink will be probably be squished easily. I have about another week before the AoD starts though so feel free to convince me otherwise.

Hide of the Cold-Ones counts as heavy armor and I was under the impression that you could not stack armors like that.

Remember that the war spear makes the skink S6 for that turn also

Aparch probably didn't know that since he didn't have the book yet. ;) But the Hide of the Cold Ones is a favorite of mine for Scar-Veterans. And you might actually consider the Chief, he is Strength 6, and those 2D6+1 Impact hits are gross.

    Some ideas:

    Light Weight:

    -Scar-vet 143pts
    Sword of the hornet
    Bane head
    Light armor, shield

    quite self explanatory

    Mid Weight:

actually its late and will continue this in the morning

You're right, didn't know... Ah, its so annoying to read all of this good stuff you guys get to bolster in, as I'm stuck with 6th edit. until my "pre" ordered book arrives

Sorry, just a litle frustrated here ;)

    Re: Joining an AoD(comments pls?)

I joined the AoD with the entrants listed in my OP and my lightweight won in the first round. It was against a Dwarf Dragon Slayer.

More results to come when I get them.

The temple guard beat a unit of Cairn Wraiths in the first round:

Pretty close fight, although it would have been easier if the GM had used the shields and HWs on the temple guard for the extra armor save instead of using the halberds for some reason. :shifty: .

Well, I changed my mid entry to this and forgot about it:

Lizardmen Saurus Oldblood w/Light armor, Enchanted Shield, The Blade of Realities, Mounted on a Cold-One

It fought a dwarf lord just now and won.

That's all of my Lizzies entries making into round 2(except for the heavywieght, still waiting on that).

Would more interest be shown if the stories were posted too?

Anyway, the scarvet won his fight against the wrightking and is the semis(Against a DE assassin).

Also, the Midwieght Oldblood won against a High elf prince and is also in the semis(don't know against what though, yet)

The Temple Guard are going to be against a unit of WoC Chosen w/Mark of Nurgle and +1T.

    Thanks Revien.

Well, my midweight Old-blood will be fighting a Empire General in the finals and the temple guard wiped the floor with the chosen and will go onto the semi-finals against a unit of WoC Trolls.

Great job on killing those chosen! I didn't think it would happen as normally chosen walk all over my infantry. Hope you do this well in the rest of the tourny!
