So I JUST got the new book (university), and I am wondering, what is the essential new model to get? looks like I can dust off my cold one riders, paint the other ones (trade - gathering dust in the back 40), and woohoo the Krox are now monstrous infantry..., but what do i "need" to get model wise to be competative? It is after all a new book (I was thinking at least a few Ripperdactyls, i don't have a steg either but now....)
This isnt a book where any model just jumps out at you and says it is a must have. There are a few that rely on magic a little too much and actually pay for it in their cost (looking at the WS3, I2 carnosaur paying for the fact that you might have it buffed with hand of glory).. IMO it is the most balanced book in WHFB.
After playing several games and looking at popular choices in lists posted by other Lizardmen players, I concur that no model is a "must add" for gaming purposes. However: The new Carnosaur model does look beautiful, and for that reason alone it should be desired. Scarnosaurs are starting to become popular. After initial community rejection of the Ripperdactyl idea, they have taken hold in many lists these days. They can definitely be used competitively (if used smartly). Gor-rok and Tetto'eko are fun, competitive, and beautiful options to add to any Lizardmen Army.
Awesome I am so excited at this offer of generosity! I can take an email money transfer... that would be be best. This way I can order them right away. that is sooo nice of you to offer to pay the gargantuan cost of this idea.... Thanks again... HEHE just playing around a bit.... a little tongue in cheek humor for ya! Ultimately I have a spending freeze on. I have to earn money to spend on more WH models... sadly. I need to make some sacrtifices (which is ironic given that I am making 'sacrifices' so I can get more Lizardmen)
Yes proxy's are a good idea. i use stands and a measuring tape most of the time. Hey another question though... Has anyone found a particular model out of the new model that is working particularly well for you?
The net list is exactly the same as last book but with only one Slann instead of two. Slann Couple cowboys Scroll caddie Obligatory saurus block. As many skirmishers as you can fit Terradon s and chameleon skinks Sallies and an ancient steg. Some variation of that.
In a list like the one Putzfrau described (somewhere around 2000-2200pts I believe) a couple of cowboys most likely comes down to two scar-vets on cold ones (maybe one scar-vet on carnosaur but that would really be a scarnosaurus then ). Not an Oldblood though since he'll be competing with the Slann for lord points (even at 2400pts I feel like I'm neutering at least one of them). Great link for different cowboy-builds! http://www.lustria-online.com/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=12879 (both oldbloods and scar-vets)
2400 points you can fit an oldblood on a cold one with a cheap slann and then have your scar vet on a carno. or you can just run the old blood on a cold one and 2 or 3 scar vets also on a cold one. all with strength 7 one up armor saves... they tend to do work. I love the carno model tho so I love bringing my scar vet on one. I think if you can squeeze in an old blood on a cold one the carno vet is arguably more effective then 2 on cold ones. sometimes I like running a more kitted out slann and its hard to fit in an old blood when your slann is north of 400 points.
I'm sorry I was unclear. I was referring to 2000-2200 pts it's limited use. 2400 might be okay for some but I like to run my Slann +400pts ^^ This! Anyway back to eugeniusgenx's question, I wouldn't leave home without atleast: Lords: Slann, relatively beefed +400 pts Heroes: Atleast one scar-vet on cold one. Atleast one scar-vet on foot, goes with saurus. Skink priest with dispel scroll. Core: 30xSaurus full command Skink skirmishers (I prefer with javelins) Special: 5xCold one Riders Banner+Musician (cowboy goes here) Chameleons Temple Guard (Slann bunker) Rare: Salamanders After that I add whatever feels cool By the way, what models do you have?
Aha! I have built a scar vet or an oldblood on a cold one, I will post a pic when it is done. Kind of a "jumping into the fray" motif.
