Having been smashed by a double SBH bubble spell in a recent game (my batrep will give details) I wondered if anyone had tried 3 level 2 skink priests, all on Beasts as part of a relatively combat heavy army? The skinks can probabaly handle magic with the benefit of a dispell scroll and the cube. Are 3 priests actually legal? - I suppose an alternative would be a slann on beasts plus a skink priest, but I wanted to avoid the slann's cost. Anyone tried 3 priests (assuming its legal)?
It's perfectly legal in most games providing you aren't over your hero allowance, and its not that uncommon a build. I see this a lot with an Oldblood as the general.
I've done it before for synthetic lore master. Note if you are trying to get multiple copies of SBH (just read your bat rep) then that's not legal -- you'll only have multiple copies of signature spells. Although multiple Wyssan's are nothing to sneeze at either. 3 level 2's of either Beasts or Heavens I've found to be pretty good. Combine with an Engine of the Gods for a faux level 3 caster and it can get gnarly. 3 Iceshards or 3 Wyssan's each turn can wreck a lot of face or at least burn through all his dispel. I even tried Tetto and 3 level 2 beasts once -- I mostly did well because that was the one day my buddy decided to try MSU HEs. He hasn't done that since!
Transformation of Kadon is pretty damn good too. I do wonder, though, how does SBH work in conjunction with ToK? Does it give the bonus strength and attacks to the transformed monster if cast pre-transformation?
I played a tournament that gave bonus points for widely varied lists and one of my lists was Tehenhauin and a Level two Beast Priest, sans Slann. I also had a crap load of Skink Chiefs. With bubbled Savage Horros they did quite well. Unfortunately it was a battle for the Pass with layered Skaven Slave Tarpits that I couldn't chew through. Basically the worst possible matchup for that combo. I've played three Skink Priests in other lists before that but I always split my Skinks between Heavens and Beasts. I guess I'm a sucker for variety
