I always wanted to do a monster mash and with the cheaper steggies, the dream is closer to reality. Aim is to have a fast moving army geared to get into combat quickly with enough big dinos fielded to withstand the inevitable losses and still have some hitting power when crunch time arrives. End result yielded 2 x Carnies, 3 x boosted Ancient Stegs & 3-9 kroxigor. While it may not work, I think it would be fun to play.

Here is what I came up with:

Lord - Kroq Gar. The only carnie mount that actually gets a ward save. Also provides something to throw 6 dice at during the non-existent magic phase.

    Heroes:

SV on Carnie - Charm shield, spear.

Skink Chief on Ancient with Sharpened Horns, spear.

    Core:

9 units of skink cloud x 10 each with javelin & shield (mostly for free drops during deployment); or

2 x skrox with 3 krox (just to add extra monsters to the list & perhaps to eat a cannon ball for bigger dinos)

    Special:

3 x krox (they also can try to eat a cannon ball for any dinos hiding behind them)

    Rare:

2 x Ancient Stegs with Sharpened Horns

AFAIK, he has lost the ability to bring CoC as core. Mind you, that is no sacrifice at all since they are underwhelming cavalry at best.

Indeed Kroq-gar doesn't make COC core (at least I can't find it anywhere).

This is actually sad as COC got much better. For 1pt cheaper thatn before (once you add spears of course), you get the same COC but with Pred-figher & Cold Ones have double the Atx then before.

    As to the original post:
I think this will be an incredible fun list that needs to be played as such. What I mean by this is to play in a "not-so-competitive" environment.

With no magic and no real ranked units, you will struggle against most armies (particularly Skaven & Empire).

Might I recommend that you field 2 Skroks units (only 2 Krox each) AND 2 Skink clouds. This way you have the early deployment drops AND a few ranked unit.

20 Skinks w/ 2 Krox and full command is 230pts

Take 2 of these plus 2 Skink clouds is exactly 600pts

Use the Skrox units only as rank support in the same combats as any of your Monsters.

Actually nevermind that, just take the 2 Skrox unit with 3 Krox each, but drop the Special Krox altogether for 2 skink clouds.

That will net you more solid Core, you still get lots of Krox, easy early drops, and less units to deploy. Since you can't hit the skinks in Skrox units most of the time anyway, it is like having 2 regular Krox units with lots of ranks in Core.

Thanks for the tips and comments. I'll give the skrox and skirmish mix a try by omitting the special krox. Now, I just have to pick up one of the new carnie kits and get it painted and I'll be good to go so I don't have to use any proxies at all.
