I love the Krox models, but don't feel they are worth taking (or monetarily affordable). i added the poll to see what everyone thinks would make them a must have in the list. I also would love to here from some people who do use them under 7th edition rules... with success.

I think they work as is, but given the tiny cut in points from 6th ed and the cut in strength which drags them down a lot, I can definitely see why people are a bit miffed.

Best solution, put their points back to where they were and increase their strength again so they can munch on chariots. Second solution, leave them as is but give them natural s6 rather than 4 plus great weapon so they won't be always striking first and their strength will actually reflect their size. I mean, its bad enough that they have the same strength as saurus and less strength than old bloods, but they also have the same strength as a weedy little skink chief! :O That just ain't right.

So even though it is probably a bit less powerful I would almost prefer them to be natural s6 with hand weapon than s5 with great weapon just for fluff.

Yeah, this is what I would say as well. They just can't have S4. If G.W. wants them to not smush chariots, give them either strength 6 with some normal weapon or strength 5 and halberds.

I think the biggest reason you don't see as many of them is the Strength drop from 6th ed. to 7th ed.
Which is really a shame, because they are probably my favorite models from the new range.

I think a str 5 with halberds would do the trick quite well. That would maintain the 2 hand weapon aspect and the str 6, but would remove the strike last aspect.

Kroxigors have such low initiative anyway why does it matter? There are very few units in the game that will be striking after a Kroxigor. I'm all for Halberds or Great Weapons, just give me my strength boost!

S7 is a big drop, but I prefer a 10 point drop actually...

I tried krox in 6th and 7th. Ofcourse they rocked in 6th, and are inferior to other hammers in 7th. But I tried the Skrox unit (11/4) for a pretty cheap support unit. With kroxes being even cheaper, i would surely take them and give them a nice supporting role.
Would you reconsider kroxes with S7 (and the old point cost)? Their greatest asset was (IMO) the charge through skinks...Now that that's gone TOO...well, S7 is nice. But the skink protection from missile fire and charges (if done correctly) is just too much. Our other hammers are simply better. SCOR are cheaper and better AS, Steggie speaks for itself.
One thing I have to admit: their fluff and models are very cool...

Either a 10 points drop in cost or an additional point of strength. I would be fine with any of them personally.

I agree with Trevy the Great.

They shouldn't have lowered the strength. If they kept them at str 5 with GWs I'd be happy and would actually field the buggers.
Like strewart said, now they're just multi wounded saurus. I mean, how can they move the big boulders in the pyramids now?

I would still like to run them as their own unit but feel that they just be magiced or shot to death with all the other crazy armies now-n-days. :beaver:
