I know Kroxigors can be purchased in a block of skinks, but to have 3 krox, you have to have 24 skinks. If you purchase the Krox (three) from the special section, can you then add them to a skink unit without having to have the 1:8 ratio thing? I only have like 21 skinks, and would like to run around 18 with 3 krox. I am going to learn how to play fant Saturday, so am working on an 800 and 1000 based on what I have with a few small stand ins.

    Thanks guys!!

No if you purchase them as a special they are on their own, if you purchase them as a skink unit upgrade they only count as the core choice and are part of the unit.

Even though the "Special" section ones have the Spawn-Kin Special rule (which I just noticed and then referenced what it was, ha-ha)?

Units can never join other units, however with the spawn kin rule, you could have skink characters join the special Krox unit and the Kroxigors could hit over top of them.

Ya I thought of using the skink core unit, slap in 2-3 skink chiefs 1 bsb with the frenzy banner and 4 krox, it'd be a huge block unit but I think it may have some power. Or I was thinking of having elite skinks with krox bodyguards

why would you want skinks and krox together?
    it makes the krox weaker,
sure we get a all important rank bonus, but the enemy has picked of the skinks and ignored the krox they will still have a good combat score,

i personally dont see the point in putting such a cool unit such as kroxigors with skinks and they only reason i have done this in a game is to make a bait unit.

Reasons to do it if you are so inclined:

    1) Core Kroxigor
    2) Thier stats are the same
    3) if you charge peoples units krox get to attack first with skinks for extra pokeyness
    4) Rank Bonus
    5) Standard Bonus
    6) Musician
    7) Outnumber Bonus
    8) Tarpit with killing power
    9) Skinks uses the highest leadership in the unit Krox = 7

Those are just some of the reason's I came up with off the top of my head, however, I would also use special Krox as well, just cause you have one doesn't mean you can't have the other. Well unless you don't have more krox I suppose.

they have not born fruit in my usage...

though if it is my noobishness, my general opponents keen tactics or truly a shortcoming of the unit...can't say as of yet, need more games with them. In theory they should be an awesome flanking unit, but theory doesn't seem to get the other guy to put his troops in a formation that lets me do that :p
