I used the regular steg with the giant bow this weekend against the new Beasts of Chaos list. This is the 1st time I fielded this unit, but I found it excel at one thing in particular for me, and that was taking down large high toughness/no armor targets.

The unintended combination of the steg plus the hit/wound rerolls granted by my Skink priest with Second Sign of Amul allowed that one unit to take out a Ghorgon, a Jabberslythe, and some Minotaurs before ever seeing combat.

I had never never seen the value of a BS3 bolt thrower but with the poison rule, +1 one to hit large targets, and the rerolls afforded by the spell, I have found it to be AMAZING against GW's new trend of giant terrorizing monsters.

    -Just my 2 cents-

you know, istead just having 1 S5 shot you could have lots more at S4 with skinks... if the target has low/no armor skinks are a lot of times better. granted, the range is lower and they are not ITP, but the will do a better job especially if they have portent of far casted on them.
the way i see it the only use for a regular steg (exept a steg spam list wher ethey cost lower and are a special choice) is to kill cavlary and other high T units from afar

It's funny that you mention that, as the Jabber landed near a unit of skinks and did it's bomb, but didn't kill any, then in my turn the terror check failed sadly and my little guys took off.

The other skink units did some great work on a Razorghor unit though, taking out two of the three. Even my Terradons managed to take down the last Razoghor with their javelins.

All in all, poison is brutally amazing against the new Beasts of Chaos list regardless of who is shooting it.

Yeah, but my pal cross referenced what was on the internet now in rumor form with the actual info in the army book thats at most of the GW stores. They get them early and have demo books you can look at, but can't purchase yet. So he just made sure all the rules for his list were accurate and took some pics with his iPhone.

He's a tournament player so he wanted to get a few games in before the book full comes out because he has a tourney in early Feb and wants to take the new list there.
