Ok, I'm going for a magic/shooting heavy list (mostly magic) that can be adaptable enough to be able to watch a Star Dragon in one fight and Tzeentch in the next, and I have no idea what I'm up against. Strats vs. ALL armies except for WE and HE (I fight them too much) Would be greatly appreciated. My current list: Slann- 4th Generation, Plaque of Dominion, Plaque of Tepok, Diadem of Power= 465 Skink Priest- Level 2, Mark of the Old Ones, Cube of Darkness= 175 Skink Priest- Level 2, Dispel Scroll, Power Stone= 150 Skink Priest- Level 2, Charm of the Jaguar Warrior, Glyph Necklace= 150 Kroxigors- x3, Ancient= 194 Kroxigors- x3, Ancient= 194 Chameleons- x9= 135 Salamanders- x3= 195 Skinks- x14, javelins= 84 Skinks- x14, javelins= 84 Skinks- x13, blowpipes, brave= 83 Stegadon= 235 Terradons- x3= 105 Total= 2249 Power Di- 13 (15 with Diadem, 17 with Diadem and Power Stone) Dispel Di- 8 (10 with Diadem) Anyways comments, advise, word on this vs. ANY other army, or suggestions are MOST welcome. And don't worry, I do know that I can't use the Power Stone on the Slann and the Diadem is a bit of a pain when it comes to carry over, that's just potential dice. Thanks in advance for any help. -Dalkarius
I don't think I would go so heavy on magic items on the priests.. Besides, I usually don't field Ancient Kroxes either, but thats just me. It really depends a lot on your prefferd style of playing, but in dropping one priest, the upgrade of kroxes and the glyph nec. you got yourself an anvil of a 20 man strong saurus block...
I recently began kicking my Priests into something besides scroll caddies and did find they're extremely powerful if used correctly and can rain Hell down on the enemy. The Power Stone one I'm hoping gets either Comet or Uranon's Thunder Bolt so he can wreck havoc, the Cube of Darkness Priest is there so if I end up fighting Tzeentch or a nasty Vampire list I can use it, the Mark of the Old Ones being sure there's a very good chance it'll shut the phase down, allowing my Diadem to activate, giving me more protection. The Priest with the Charm means he can escape almost anything, probably even flyers, and the Glyph Necklace is mainly to protect him for my most hated enemies, shooty elves. Bolt Throwers, Glade Guard, etc. have an annoying long range that beyond anger me when they snipe my priests, so he'll have some protection. The Ancients...well, sometimes challenges with an Ancient work very well in curcial combat, plus that extra attack usually pushes me just over the edge.
Well you got 3 priests all of them equipted for spesific tasks and situations, but chances is low that right priest is in right place at the right time... I'd go for a power stone and a sroll on each As for getting exposed to a rain of arrows, that's always a problem for a character thats supposed to give line of sight, but a block of saurus is great to hide behind.. Finaly the fact that you has 3 priest lessens the loss of a single one, so I wouldn't worry too much of that in giving them ward saves... But again, that just me. Most of my exp comes from fighting chaos, and I understand that you has played some games vs elves so I guess you know how to set up a missile defence
Lol, I really do appreciate the advise, and yeah, almost all of my experiences over 7 years involve HE and WE. Though any tips you could give me vs. Chaos would be VERY appreciated. Mortals and Daemons...
Vs. Warriors of Chaos: Take out his knights! Roll out spells from Lore of Metal and hopfully you'll get Spirit of the Forge. Anyway, you got the defult spell. This will first of all take out one of his most important offensive elements, and second give you a lot of Victory Points. Terradons can help you here to march block and give you a bit more time.. Use your skinks first vs fast cavalry wich shouldn't be a problem at all. Then start to pick appart any blocks he happen to bring along. The most important thing when fighting chaos is, NEVER go melee with chaos warriors! They just kill you, period. but they has a minor flaw wich you can make the most of. 4 Movement. Outmanouver him with your movement 6 units but keep your distance. If his warriors never reach combat you propably win. A stegadon is great to hold of a Dragon, and if supported by a Kroxigor unit, you may even bring it down. So basically: Take out his high movement units and run around him the rest of the game. (Extremely frustrating for a Chaos player ) Hasn't to much exp vs deamons, but my next match is vs deamons, so I'll try to remember pros and cons.
This list failed....miserably. I'm retreating back to my very powerful list of a 2nd Generation Slann, JSoD with Steed of Shadows combo, and flying priest. I lost bad because of a Star Dragon list with a unit of 10 Dragon Princes with a banner they makes them immune to fear and terror but they also had a BSB that made them immune to all magical attacks, so my Slann was worthless. I've already declared a rematch with my best list that I crafted long ago and this time, HE WILL DIE!!! Also, discovered from watching a friend of mine's Star Dragon list get massacred because the fellow used Spirit of the Forge to kill the dragon! It was brilliant.
Yeah I know, the Spirit of Forge spell is extremly powerfull and effectiv when fighting armored units. Too bad about you failure though, and best of luck with the rematch. Make him pay
Oh I will....yes....he army will be sacrifices to almighty Sotek! The High Elves will severly grieve the day they defeated one of my armies...
