Hey guys, got another prompt for you all (I guess this is what happens when I capture that elusive creature know as "free time"). Who is your least favorite army to fight and your favorite army to fight and why? For me, I love fighting elves. Being my least favorite race in the Warhammer fantasy world (especially High Elves) I find that crushing them brings a certain satisfaction that other armies just don't match. Silly elves, go back to Santa's workshop where you belong! As for least... I guess I would say Ogres. Not all the time, but when the player decides to run a bullstar with not much else... It's like hitting your head against a rock until it slowly crumbles apart. Could I use Razor and wipe them out? Yeah I guess, but it lessens the game even more. So let's hear it from the rest of you!
I hate dwarfs and gun line wood elfs. It's just not fun. Oh sweet I just lost half my army crossing the board, now give me your elite and vastly superior close combat models Favorite? Hmm.. Not too sure. I played beastmen once. Fielded the troglodon. It very much enjoyed the low leadership lol, so that's something. I don't think I have a favorite army to play against, I just hate having big things shoot off the board before they can do something. Also about Ogres - razor banner wouldn't make much of a difference and a bulletin isn't even the worst they can throw at you. Just use massed shooting to whittle them down
I'd say wood elves are my favorite (of things that I have played, anyway). Wood elves vs Lizards is always an interesting matchup, and I never feel that one side has the definite advantage. One bad move on either side gets a unit wiped out. Lots of mobility and things to do. My least favorite is WoC. All of their stuff is STUPIDLY hard to kill. The only way to really deal with a lot of their stuff is the blade of realities, and you can only have one of them. Everything else just hands down beats up anything we throw at it. We are really reliant on magic to do anything in this match-up, which is unreliable at best.
Least favorite would probably be warriors of chaos... They aren't bad, but all I seem to run into is wreck your face cheese builds full of trolls with an unkillable BSB and a daemon prince. There's just not much you can do against it with the exception of a skink cloud and some lucky magic. My favorite ones to play against are probably skaven and orcs and goblins. They can be tough and downright insane sometimes, but the randomness and fun they can bring to the game makes up for it most of the time. I really enjoy playing against beastmen, but they don't seem to get played much.
Agreed. Least favorite is WoC. I haven't played them since the book changed and we got all our high str hitters, but I have never beaten them. I think the best I have ever done is kill a large unit of marauders in one game, and a unit of forsaken in another. They always seem to run no more than 4 units and I never collect any points. Favorite is anything that can break and flee. Crumbling is OK. But I like salamanders and the new carnasaur. If nothing in their army can break, I am not having the most fun possible.
This is why dwarves is my least favorite. Gunlines are boring and uninteresting, and when I finally it CC, it just feels like I'm banging two rocks against each other. Good T and AS means we rarely do much to each other, and worse still, our exceptional leadership means that victories rarely results in anyone breaking. I still remember this one fight where we hit CC in turn 2, and then stood there, wailing on each other until turn 6 where the game ended. I scored 140 points (cannons) and he had scored 70 (10man unit of skirmishers) No other unit had been wiped. Makes you kinda wish that it counted the individual model slain, rather than only counting if you wipe out the entire unit.
