My first Legionary Lizardman test model and paint scheme.

I used plastic card to make the side flaps of his helmet, I should do the same for the shoulder armor next time.

need to add some rope details to make the armor on the back look like it's connected
but I got so fed up with the green stuff that I just didn't want to for this guy.

I got some small details on the front but they were a pain. I should really paint his teeth a different color, white is too white. I also need to thin out my chain mail metal paint before using it again. So what do you all think about him and his paint scheme apart from the fact that I kinda just slapped it on to get an idea of how he'd look.

I intend to make a whole Lizardmen army in the style of a Roman legion mixed with some elements from Carthage, Stegadon=Elephant at least I think so. Also I'm going to be ignoring some of the other historical aspects in favor of game play such as the use of spears for the saurus since they provide an additional two attacks. Although the next edition might change some things so this model will probably be alone for a while until we know for sure the rules for 8th edition.

Wow, that is super original. I don't think I have seen anyone attempt it before. That is also super wok intensive to make all that armor and convert a full army. I don't envy you on that one. It's way outside the Warhammer fluff, but hell, thats what the hobbies about, having fun.

I am really looking forward to seeing how you will do your standard bearers. I think the standard from the new goldswords would be perfect, given it has the laurels already on it.

What do you plan to use for the elephant, the LoTR Mumak, and what is your plan for your skinks?

I agree with Arsenal lol this is the most original idea I have seen in a long time and it looks great :D I can't wait to see the whole army! Good luck with the rest!

Ambitious, pretty cool start though and nice idea. Just at a glance I have to say that the model looks a bit like a skaven. Lizard lovers are going to hate me for saying that. :p Just the brown skin and the armour.

Anyway, I look forward to seeing more of your army! Good luck with it.

I never even thought of that but you've given me a new idea. The regular skinks were not going to be too converted but I was going to make one skink cohort with legion style armor and looking at the skaven storm vermin I may be able to just take the vermin and do a head swap. Too bad the skink heads are attached to their bodies that's going to create a bit of waste.

As for the standards while doing a little research on them I found that a unit had two standards one little cloth one and one which was a mostly just a pole with large metal discs. The one with discs was supposed to be the one which the unit rallied around so I think that one will be my unit standards.

A stegadon will be used as a stegadon, it was just the concept of the stegadon and what it does in warhammer reminded me of war elephants.

This isn't the first overly ambitious project of mine

This samurai army I created a few years ago was used as dogs of war until the army was dropped in the US by GW

Wow! Cool concept for an army. I can't wait to see the whole thing when it's complete. I wish I could come up with an idea like this one but I've been struggling with it for a while now... I like to do conversions rather than just painting the model as it is. Good luck with the rest of the army and I look forward to seeing your progress.

I've never seen his stuff before but he's got a really good paint job on those guys, that has always been the major lacking point of my armies...

This is one of the most ambitious converted armies I've seen, Mongolian Hobgoblins
