Hello all, long time since i've last posted here at L.O. but i know its the right place to be. I've recently got back in to the game and finished building the remainder of my army. I've played one 1500 pointer so far, and it went.... bad, but my dice were also extremely below average as well. I feel part of it was my composition. I'll start this off by saying, i love the big dinos, and plan on playing Jurassic Park style if i can. This was the army i had. 1500 OldBlood w/ Carno - light armor + G. weapon Skink Priest Lvl2 staff of channeling 25x Saurus with hand/shield full cmd 25x Saurus with hand/shield full cmd Bastiladon (venasaur with solarbeam) Ancient Stego w/ blowpipes + the d3 impact hit upgrade. My oldblood and carno were 1 rounded off the table, then bastiladon as well. They were shot off the table by dwarf riflemen (forget their names, but its a S5 armor piercing shot, and they have a 2+ ward against fire) My priest couldnt roll 3 dice to get Wysians Wildform untill the last turn of the game, and he had troll slayers that always strike back when they die or whatever rule that was. I sorta got man-handled, but put up a good fight once combat hit. My entire Lizardmen army consists of this Carnosaur oldblood Slaan Skink preist 20x Templeguard 50x Saurus warriors 12 skink skirmishers 8 cold one riders 3 kroxigor 3 terradon (magnetized to use fire bola or spear) 1x Bastiladon /w solar beam 1 Stego (magnetized to have whatever options i want) I felt more bodies on the ground could have helped a ton, but its hard to say at this point. Would anyone in the community be able to lend a beginner some advice? TL:dr - Using what i have listed, help me come up with something decent. I'm struggling to balance pimping out a character or 2, or run them simple. Effective ways to run Mr. Floaty Frog? Does he need to be with temple guard or can he be alone? More soldiers on the floor vs more big critters? What also is the "standard" for most tournaments, or atleast the convention level tournies? Thank you all so much, in advance.
Well, I'm not exactly an experienced player either, but here's what I see. 50 Saurus in one block at 1500 seems excessive. Leaves with you less options tactically than splitting the unit. More Skirmishers would really help with taking out Dwarf warmachines. It seems like Ripperdactyls would be better against Dwarves than Terradons, but I could be wrong there. What Lore/Disciplines/Magic Items does your Slann have?
