Pretty good combat list but you will severly lack magic. In my honest opinion you really need a Slann but non Slann lists can work, however, if you come across a magic orientated army I think you will get obliterated. I would also drop some points and bring in an extra salamander. 1 wont do much. Best way to run is in packs of 2. You also have no proper chaff/shooting units (bar the chamo skinks). From what I can see this army has 1 purpose, combat!!! At that you will excel, but not at much else. If you want an all comers list you need to have more magic, more skinks (ideally skirmishing). Against this is only my opinion but I think others will agree.
Thanks for the review. I personally think the two level 2 priests with cube and dispell would allow me to get through a magic phase or two quite comfortably though. Maybe i'm wrong. I do want another salamander but not sure where to squeeze him in, maybe drop some chammys. The shooting from skinks usually is pretty lack luster unless i take about 30, so i generally keep them in small numbers. I like taking a slann generally, but i want something different and not having people think i'm using cheesey slann lists which they get disheartened at on sight. I could swap the ancient steggy for an engine of the gods but i'm not sure that'd be of much better use. //chuq
With a non slann list I've heard what works best is to go monster hard. Take one of your skink priest and put him on the EOTG, gives you a level 3 caster Keep your ancient steg or make it a baby steg. Then you have the general, priest, CV and steg as monster targets and then go smash away. More sallies is always good. You could get the points from this from the TG which I think are overcosted for what they do. Just a thought.
Interesting taking the Temple guard with no slann. I have to agree that they are expensive since you are paying for stubborn you cannot use. I would drop down to Suarus and use the points elsewhere. Magic. You have plenty of magic defense. Two scrolls will work out just fine. With that said, you will need to use more DD dice then your opponent uses PD on any given spell. Expect to really only stop 1 spell a turn (other than scrolls) so you will need to make some hard choices. One idea might be to drop one of the skinks to a L1 and give him the Ruby Ring. Etherals can be a pain for you and it provides a nice MM. Skrox. I would want to fit a third Krox in there. They are the ones that bring the combat power to this unit. 6 attacks just dows not hit hard enough. Don’t forget the javelins btw when you play. Skinks. Fit two units in. These guys are about controlling the movement phase. A combat army wants to pick the terms of the engagements and these guys go a long way to helping you do this. Warmachine hunting. Keep the two units of cham skinsk and the terradons. You want to put max pressure on any opposing warmachines. Yeah, second sallie would be very nice (I run two solos). Hinge
