hi there me and some friends are gona start to play warhammer. the two of them planed to buy the island of blood starter set. one playing the elves, the other skaven. i'like to play lizzards. could anyone please tell me what lizzies i have to buy to have a equal army. i thought about some skinks and saurus warriors. what else do i need? thanks a lot!
Definitely skinks and saurus, a small balanced force is always good. You can get this with 2 boxes of Saurus and one box of Skinks. Then you need to get a leader, preferably a Saurus Hero for these small games. However, I don't know the precise points of the Island of Blood armies, so this may be slightly over or under.
When I started up I bought the Battalion Box. You get 20 Saurus, 10 Temple Guard, 12 Skinks, and 8 Cold One Cavalry. The only thing in there that I don't use is the CoC. For small games and just learning I could use that whole list. It was also cheaper than buying the 4 separate boxes, which for about 30 dollars more you would get 4 less sauras and 12 more skinks. I also bought a second battle box, a slann, and 2 Sallies and I'm pretty good for anything I want to do up to 2000 points
ok, first try. my friends said we were going to play 500 points. Scar Vet: Golden Sigil Sword, Light Armor, Shield --> 108 Pt. Salamander +1extra herder --> 80 Pt. 14 Saurus Warriors, Spear, Full Command --> 198 Pt. 10 Skink Skirmishers, Javelin & Shield --> 80 Pt. Total: 466 Points So i got 34 Points and some questions left ;o) As i'd like to put the Scar Vet to the Salas, they will build a very expensive block. Does this make sense or should i drop the command or parts of it to get some points back? I was thinking about some mor Skirmishers or Cameleon Skinks. I don't even know if this list is any good at all. :/ I will face High Elves or Skaven out of the Island of Blood, Goblins and maybe Ogers
You can't put the Scar Vet with the sallies, and it wouldn't be a good choice anyway, because you want your sallies to be shooting flames at poor elves and rats most of the time, not in combat unless you need them. I would leave the skinks with blowpipes, double shot with poison is better than javelins typically. I wouldn't run spears on the Saurus, leave them with Hand Weapon and Shield. You aren't going to have deep enough ranks to keep the spears hitting in 3 rows very long, so that wastes the points. Also, you get the 6+ parry ward save by running HW+S, which is great against some of the higher strength High Elf units. Gold Sigil Sword will negate the rerolls to hit High Elves will get against you, and I like that. I'd go with Dragonhelm, Shield, Light armor, and Great Weapon, gives you 4 WS 5 S 7 attacks with a 2+ Armor Save. You will strike last, but most likely you'll still be alive to put the hurt on. I'd bump up the Saurus block to about 19, and put the Scar Vet in there. With dropping spears off of them and the javs off the skinks, while making the changes to the Scar Vet, the list would come in at 498 points. My 2 cents
