So the 8th edition FAQ has been updated. And the Slann can NOT cast the "Transformation of Kadon" which implies he is not considered on foot. So no more magic carpet making the slann fly either.
Nope the only thing that was really added was the Slann can't cast the transformation spell. The FAQs are supposed to be living documents now though, so there is potential for them to be cleared up soon.
They seem to have updated the Steam tanks to ignore the reference to the magic phase, does that mean that any spell works on them? I don't have the Empire book, but I kinda remember they have that special rule that ignore spells with no specific strenght... Phil
ok, slan cant take carpet, thats fine with me, but then slann wont be turned into a frog, beouse hes a frog and thats that. no carpet = no stupit transformation into yourself with worse stats.
Wait, What? Damnit! Why can't they specify! Just a plain "no" to the question if the slann can use the transformation of Kadon is a useless update! Crappy GW... If he can't use the carpet, he can't use the jag charm either.
I think you gentlemen are mistaken, it still says nothing about the Slann not being able to take the carpet, just that it cannot use Transformation.
That's exactly what I mean!! Why don't they just comment on why he can't use it. Like "he's not on foot" or whatever! They just answer with a "no".
Yep looks like new questions are getting very short answers and no explanation of why. Logically, the only reason he couldn't cast the spell is because he is not counted as being on foot, so I would say no to the carpet now despite earlier assuming it would be possible. There is still definitely a good argument for it being legal, but it seems to me that rules as intended he cannot have it.
Or perhaps he can be turned into "... a small slimy toad!" but it won't bother him at all? It's just common sense to give a good explanation. Especially since GW have tried so hard in 8th to really cover everything.
It would be ironic if that scroll makes him MORE powerful. Seems like his movement at least would get better (not so fat anymore).
OKAY PEOPLE, I have the answer you are looking for. The Slann can be turned into a frog. Why's that? Because he's a toad. Get it?
So if you pick the beast lore for your slann and you roll transformation of kadon, do you just get to reroll? Or are you stuck with a spell you literally cannot use?
