Hi guys, I have recently got into Bloodbowl and didn't have the heart to cheat on my beloved Lizzies with another race. After a few games I've got the basics but I've signed on to a Bloodbowl League for 2012 and was wondering if anyone has any wisdom for me? My team (1 million gold) is as follows: 6 Saurus 5 Skinks 2 TRRs 5 Fan Factor 1 Apothecary I know I'll be facing at least one High Elf team, Dwarfs, Chaos and maybe a goblin guy. The reasoning behind my team is that I want those MVPs to land on the saurus more than the skinks (as they'll be getting plenty of SPPs through touchdowns, intercepts, the occasional quick pass etc) so I wanted a good number to begin with. 2 Rerolls is plenty, I find, and 5 fan factor helps a lot. I thought the apothecary would be a good idea as I will inevitably lose some skinks, so getting them back into reserves quickly would be more useful than getting an extra skink. So, what do you think of the team? Any advice against other teams? I mostly have experience against HEs so I know the value of a solid screen around the ballholder! Thanks!
As a starting build I might drop down to 5 saurus swapping that 6th one for a skink, keep one fan factor and purchase that extra reroll. Remember rerolls double in cost once you enter the league, if you want that 6th saurus at the start drop the apothecary and buy it after the first game. Against faster teams handing of to a saurus can really help the stalling. Oh and as far as skills go if you want to be riskier take mighty blow as your first skill on your saurus and they will skill up faster. Guard, break tackle, block and mighty blow are the go to skills on saurus and never underestimate sidestepping skinks. A few people don't like the krox but there's no better starting piece for preoccupying opposing players. Hope my gibberish helps.
Hmm I agree with the others, I used to play skaven a lot and all I can say get more rerolls.. At least drop a saurus for a skink.. They are your life line, if you get lucky rolls on skill ups get block and mighty blow and guard like the others have said, sidestep is a handy skill to have as well.. Ok I also played Norse , these guys are full of block and you will need to at least make it 2 dice your favor to get em down, though this should be a standard tactic with all races... Skaven is just watch out for the gutter runners especially ag5 ones I have one... Ratogres can be nasty, so if you get krox handy one to tie up other positions, prehensile tail does affect dodge for them, but not your stunty.. Enough of my rambling hope I was some help.
Thanks for the tips! Hmmm, that's given me something to think about. How about this; 5 Saurus 6 Skinks 3 TRRs 6 Fan Factor I've played that list a few times and found it to be a pretty good balance of skinks and saurus. Couldn't think of anything better to get with the money after players and rerolls than 6 fan factor, too much? I'd like to get some cash quickly and get an apothecary as I always lose a skink.
Sorry for the delay in the post, but yes an apothecary is good, save the roll for a saurus or star player skink though
just a few tips i play skaven, Nugles Rotters, Pro Elf and Chaos Dwarfs, Against Skaven, you will never ever catch them, and a good skaven player will feed you just the right amount of linesmen to keep you occupied while the throwers and gutter runners run rings around you, tactic- get hold of the ball, and for a tight box, skaven struggle to break these, and take the whole half to score otherwise they will respond. IF you get a chance to kill a gutter runner do it, but dont try and chase them down. Against Chaos dwarfs the hobgoblins are nothing special, but the bulls especially if they have break tackle are dangerous- their weakness is ballhandling, put tackle zones around the bulls to reduce their chance of reciveing a ball- chaos dwarfs will rarely try a pass but a handoff to a bull to then make the run. Do not ever get into a slugfest with the dwarf blockers- easiest way of winning it to take out the hobgoblins as they are then agaility 2 and willstrugle to pick up the ball with tackle zones on them. Rotters- to be honest you shouldnt have to much of a problem against Pro Elfs- liek humans can run it well and pass it well- try andforce them away from the touchlines and make themplay the game in the middle of the pitch. The aim is to give youself as many blocking chances as possible andintercept chances- try to force them to move around your Saurus and you shoul squish a few
