So, i have drawn up an army list for a battle against a friends Warrior of Chaos army this week and i wondered if you could help me by giving me you thoughts. The club that i belong to has been playing the Mighty Empire expansion for two weeks and i have lost both games i have played with First VS Ogres, Second VS Wood Elves. The guy i am playing against this week is has won both games so far and i want to take him down a notch, which is why i have decided to challenge him this week. He normally uses three units of Chaos Warriors, with the mark of Nurgle, on such unit with additional hand weapons and a level 2 Sorcerer. I would drop the spears for the saurus but i only have models with spears. This is what i have planned. I have some gold to spend as well so any points that i have gone over will be taken from my gold pile. Slann Mage Priest - Disciplines of the ancients x 3 - Focus of mystery (Using the lore of Metal) The focused rumination Higher state of consciousness - 375 Scar Veteran - Light armor Burning blade of Chotec Maiming shield - 140 Saurus Warriors x 18 - Full command Spears - 228 Saurus Warriors x 18 - Full command Spears - 228 Temple Guard x 20 - Full Command War Banner Sword of the Hornet - 405 Stegadon - 235 Total - 1611 Here is a rough battle plan as well; I will deploy my Temple guard, with the Slann, in the dead center of my battle line the two units of Saurus will be as close as possible on either side. My Stegadon and Scar Veteran will be on either flank, the Stegadon hoping to score a lucky hit with its Giant Bow to take out a file of the enemy, my aim here is to draw some of the sorcerers magic away from the main battle line which in turn will be slowly advancing throwing all kinds of metal magic mayhem at the thickly armored Chaos Warriors. then just as the game is ending charge with everything i have at the crippled chaos army. Just two questions: Do the saurus carrying spears still get +1 to their armor save for having shields? Oh and i also wondered about the effect of glittering robe on the saurus does it give them an extra layer of armor or is it just a no go for the lizardmen? Sorry i forgot about one last question. Any thoughts? Cheers
I'd reccomend removing the points costs, its a no no to list it on here. Glittering robe i've never used so can't help. But yes, spearman with a shield get +1 to the armour save also to stop his magic working well. ditch higher state discipline and take becalming cogitation for the slaan.
