Still trying to find a list to take to an upcoming tournament. The rules do not allow special characters. I wanted to create a balanced and competitive list. If the community could chime in and let me know if this is a good list and how to improve it, I would greatly appreciate it. I am concerned about having too few Temple guard to get the most out of the skavenpelt, razor standard combo. What do you guys think? I have another list that drops the 2 ripperdactyl units and the 2 extra skink handlers and adds a second bastilidon, 6 more temple guard, an ironcurse icon to help protect from cannons and gives the revered guardian the gold sigil sword so that he is a challenge machine going at initiative 10 with frenzy and armor piercing. Trade off is the loss of warmachine hunting capability, and the general usefulness of rippers.
Hello! Ive run a quite same list few weeks ago, having a very succesfull competition. My list contained an ancient stegadon and 3 sallies in one block, and had one extra skirmishers with fewer sauruses. The ancient is a very powerfull tool in your hand if you use it correctly, while sallies eat up hordes easily. Also, adding him will increase the chances of your monsters to survive. I took 3 sallies in one block, this way they are easier to move them to position with walk between worls. Once done, enjoy the devastation. Id drop the banner and the tg unit, to take those, and you might have some extra points for standard of discipline of crown of command.
I hate to say this as I love the model, but from a pure competitive standpoint I don't think the Carnosaur is the strongest choice. Typically going with the Cold-One is a bit stronger, but a lot less flashy. Not saying the Carno is a terrible choice, but it is a weakness that can be exploited. Does the Skavenpelt Banner actually do anything for Temple Guard?
There are no longer restrictions on the skavenpelt banner in the new book so it provides frenzy to any unit the slaan joins, including TG. Depending on how they are fielded, this will likely mean 5-7 extra attacks. Given the banner's price, I would be tempted to drop it for +1 LD and add some more TG to the unit.
I think Carnos can work competetively but you need more target saturation Also, since you put so much effort into the TG (with frenzy and armor piercing) you should really find points for more of them as 20 is way to little to withstand shooting.
I am thinking of dropping the razor/skavenpelt combo and going for the standard of discipline. This way my ripperdactyls can pass their frenzy checks more easily.
