Nothing? That bad huh? Next week I am going to play with the new book for the first time against some friends. Most likely I will face Orcs & goblins, Dark elves, Skaven, High elves and maybe Warriors of chaos. So which list should I bring? I have all the models and obviously the one with Slann is the most competitive. Please let me know what you think.
Hello! I am at work right now and don't have my book handy so I'm not completely sure of all of the items but the slann could be improved on, depending on what you're facing I actually like to use a slann lord and a scar vet on a carnosaur with a skink priest or two if you can fit them. May not be the most competitive but it's very fun to play! I'm not exactly the most conventional lizardmen player anyways though.
Yeah I have thought about a Scar-veteran on Carnosaur and a Slann. But have no idea what to drop for the points I will need so I let it go. I am considering two Skink units with javelins and one with blowpipes to escort the priest. And maybe channeling staff for Slann to make one of the Terradon units to Ripperdactyls?
thumbs up for channeling staff. its really really worth it! If you go ripperdactyls I have a feeling you need more than 3 in a unit. Played them in my last game and 3 of the 4 went down due to shooting pretty fast...but then again that was a heavy ranged HE list.. have a game today where I bumbed it up to 5 and invested in a skink screen to cover them turn 1
well....to say it short, I dont like them My HE opponent played 3*16 archers a unit of sister archers, 8 I think. 2 bolt throwers 2 chariots with bows for his ranged, so I saw the rippers would get hit hard. I placed the toadmarker inside a 15 Swordsmasters unit, thinking that a flank on them would do (I realise it could have been placed better but it didnt really come to any use anyway) I made a heavy right flank. 6 CoC + Scarvet to fend off his fast cavalry (worked) 5 terradons to screen them towards enemy archers (worked) 1 Terradon Cheif with Stega-helm and 2+ AS to to the initial charge to draw out the Stand and shoot. (worked) 5 Rippers to lay the hurt on the flank. (...................) what happend was that after the terradons had soaked up the arrows and the Cheif took the Stand and shoot....the Rippers had a free run and connected with a 16 archer + lvl 1 mage, which had tried a big soul quench which I scrolled to make sure they got in unharmed.. I was happy, cause I had succesfuly put the flying blenders in action with much effort.....my happiness ended first round of combat...as 16 archers killed 4 of them, and the last one didnt even lay a wound. Beaten in combat it lost its frenzy, and due to its low LD it fled. I know they have always strike first for being elves, but with a initiative of 3 the rippers will often strike last anyway so in many cases its still 100slaves worrth of special that cant handle a core selection of worth about 75slaves ... I am not thrilled...it took too much to get these guys safe in and I didnt get a single wound out if it. I wont buy the kit for their sake, thats certain. pls correct me if you think I could have done more.
How did your game go? I have to say I'm a big fan of the ripperdactyls myself, I've been using a list with 2 units of 3 and one with a skink chief and they have been living up to their name. I stuck the frog in an empire swordsman detachment and nearly wiped them out on the charge. The thing with them is they're fragile so you can't just throw them in the front of a unit and expect results, they're good if you have a main block charge the front and have them flank and support. Especially if the unit has the toad in it.
Well well well! Played three games this weekend. Wood elves, Dark elves and Skaven, 2400 points. We just played Battleline for all the games. And I am so pleased with the new book. Here are their lists from the top of my head: Wood elves Lord on Dragon Hero on Eagle Waywatcher hero? Hero? Spellsinger Glade Guards x 2 Eternal Guards Warhawk riders Waywatchers Eagle Treeman This was a tough one. I have never faced Wood elves before. And I did not know their tricks. At the start it was looking good. With some spells (a miscast) and flames from my Salamander I managed to kill almost all Eternal guards, but then he teleported that unit to another wood at the table. That left my Slann and entire Temple guard unit without any targets. I ran like an idiot for the rest of the game, even casting walk between worlds. But he was too fast. My Saurus did some damage but in the end got triple charged. Treeman to the left, Dragon in the front and the eagle in the right. Their attacks in combination with stomps and flaming attack was too much... I managed to kill the Lord and the Hero on Eagle, and the Spellsinger was sucked into the warp. And my Stegadon was killed by a single unit of glade guards... I failed ALL the saves. Victory to Wood elves. Around 900 against 400 vp's. Dark elves Level 4 Supreme Sorceress on cold one Level 1 or 2 Sorceress Spearmen Crossbowmen Corsairs Executioners Black guards Shades Harpies Bolt thrower He dominated every magic phase. Like twelve dice every turn. So I just tried to shut down the best spells. The shooting was a huge problems. My Terradons, Chameleons, Stegadon and one Salamander were shot down early on. The other Salamander flamed almost all the Shades and they fled. My Temple guards sliced their way through the Black guards and the Corsairs. The Stegadon single handed killed an entire unit of Executioners before it died. And the Saurus fought the Spearmen until they fled. When the game ended he had the characters and the Crossbowmen unit left. Lizardmen victory. Around 1800 against 900 vp's. Skaven Grey seer Plague priest on Furnace Chieftain BSB Clanrats x 2 Slaves x 2 Plaguemonks Stormvermin Rat darts x 3 Warpfire thrower Warplightning cannon Plague claw catapult Doomwheel This game was the most intense. Just looking at the army, it was massive! Around 250 models. We both had horrible magic phases so I just buffed my own units and tried to shut down he's. I sent all my Skinks one flank and my combat blocks on the other. There was a building and a wood almost in the centre and two hills and the very end of the table. He sent a clanrat unit, a slave unit and two darts after the Skinks. I also moved a Salamander that way. The Doomwheel zapped the Stegadon to death. Five of my six Terradons died on the plagueclaw catapult... The cannon exploded on round one. And then there was an epic battlein the middle. My Saurus against a horde of Stormvermin. They had bloodfrenzy at first but only wounded 6 of 40 attacks! I won that combat after couple of turns and ran inte a Clanrat unit with Grey seer and BSB in it. At the same time my Temple guards fought some slaves. That gave the Plague furnace enough time to flank charge my Saurus. But when the slaves was gone I flank charged the furnace. And there we fought for several rounds. My 36 Saurus went down to 6. My 25 Temple guards to 12. But in the end I whiped out the two units of foul vermin. When the battle was over I had two very bloody units who had won the entire game for me. The last two turns I just took the wounded units like one chameleon skink, a salamander and my priest and tried to avoid him so he wouldn't get the points. But the Doomwheel killed the priest and the salamander. But did not get the Chameleon skink! Lizardmen Victory. Around 2000 against 800 vp's. Had three really, really fun games. You have to excuse my writing but I am just typing as I think of it. Had no notes. Overall I am super happy about the new book. Predatory fighter is soo good! The things I am unhappy about is how my Slann did. Even with extra channel I just had really bad luck. He miscasted all games and was the only one who actually killed some Temple guards in the first game... He costed more than he performed. I am thinking of using signature spells instead. And the Terradons were bloody useless! And thats that! My opponents had a really good laugh about it. And I feel that everything except them should stay in my list.
