Interesting conversation going on the warseer forum http://www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=329122&page=2
Wow! Talk about some in-depth fluff there. Some great stuff discussed in that thread.. both pros and cons, about our Lizardmen and mostly about the Slann and the Old Ones. For anyone who may be interested in our fluff and possible interpretations of the "gray areas" of the Lore, this is a good one to read. Thanks SouthlandLizardman for posting the link to the thread! - Lord Cedric
I particulairly like the link which saurus have to dragons which was mentioned. It just makes saurus feel better than ordinary lizards.
Its pretty cool the progression they seem to have pieced together; - Warhammer world forms - Dragons rule, have vassal races, battle other primordial races like Dragon Ogres - Old Ones show up, slap down Dragons like blowflies with insane magic - Slann tell dragons to go sleep, brainwash Lizardmen into servitude, conduct genetic engineering - Zoats are the remnants who never got with the program, but they still help out on occassion because Slann are a force for good and oppose Chaos. So, they don't participate in Lizardmen society, but they're still bro's with the Slann.
Does anyone else find it odd that most of the pre-Old One races were reptilian creatures living in an ice age? A bit odd if you ask me...
I especially like the theory of the Old Ones being stranded. Imagine they get to the Warhammer world by accident, then as suggested in that thread just do what they think is best for survival. Then, having knowledge of the Warp and how it works, they create races capable of thought and emotion, thus feeding the Warp, and thus Chaos. Then when the Warp is churning with energy, they build the Warp Gates and use them to get the hell out of here, leaving the world flooded with Daemons. And then, as I like to tie in the Fantasy Universe with the 40k Universe, they use the same blueprints they used for elves and men on other planets because they saw the potential of these races.
Maybe the dwarves just didn't survive in the 40k world... I like to think that the Warhammer world is just one of those worlds that are stranded due to warp storms during the same age of the 41st millenium. A world where psykers (wizards) are extremely abundant due to the warp gates.
