Hello The Lizardmen army is hit pretty hard by the restrictions proposed for this years ETC. For those who do not know the specifics, here they are: Lizardmen: Salamanders are a 0-1 Choice; Terradons, Chameleon Skinks and Stegadons (any kind) are 0-2 choices; Becalming Cogitations counts as +1 PD and +2DD; Cupped hands counts as +2PD (Besides Winds of magic and channeling, no army can get more than 2 dice extra each magic phase) I really struggle to find a list I'm really happy with under this comp. I've tried out a few things, but I can't seem to get it right. And a lot of other lists have come up with some very good builds that are hard for the Lizardmen, like the standard Grave Guard VC build, or the flying circus DE builds. What have you other guys been trying out? What's working for you under these restrictions?
I run 0 Stegadons and usually 2 units of 8 Chameleon skinks, so those restrictions wont affect my list Feedback scroll+ banehead is better combo than cupped hands+ banehead. I've now played slann w/ reroll miscast and havent yet exploded him. and I used lore of Light. the organizers have something against Skaven, since they are IMO hit way too hard in draft IV
Why no Stegadons? Yes, they are vulnerable to cannons, but it haven't been that bif of a problem for me yet. I have also been trying out the Lore of Light recently, and I'm impressed. Will try some more games. Juhaaha, do you run the Slann in TG or solo? How have you delt with problematic units like Black Coach? I've played a lot of games against VC, and as soon as that thing gets flying and ethereal, there is no stopping it
Does this include mounts? Anyway for good ETC lists youll likely run an economy slaan with no rumination, loremaster and possibly a cube of darkness (cuz it's just awesome and only counts as 1 DD ), this should allow for a skink priest with a dispel scroll too if you wish to have both, or you can drop that and get becalming altho that would make it all your magic defense (not that bad an option actually as most lists will feature a main caster but will give you range issues in the early game). You will also need a pack of 2 sallamanders (3 is overkill), add camos and/or terradons to your liking. In an ETC enviroment skink units will be very usefull and so will large saurus blocks, as you will likely spend more points on core you will need to make better use of it making the enemy, proper use of poison redirecting and general saurus kickbuttness. Oh and some scar-vets can really help out your block units, and if you decide to invest in an oldblood get a blade of realities it's too much fun not to use. No stegas, cause they are vulnerable to shooting, and 8th edition is about infantry blocks. No competetive Vampire Count army includes Black coach, they have unit of wraiths and ghouls, ghouls and grave guard. Having played a lot with Slann w/ TG box lately, I think I'll try Slann without TG next My list
