So in preparation for my upcoming battle I prepared a couple of army lists. I posted one about a week ago, and obviously it was flawless, because it received no comments ;) . I was then told today that my opponent was playing a very unconventional Warriors of Chaos list and I started to think if there was an unconventional or strange Lizardmen list. So as I perused the book I came across this unit: Cannon fodder. 5 pts. Seeing this, I then checked the Hero portion of the book and strangely came across this entry: Expert cannon fodder. 55 pts. This two things suddenly clicked together! I would make a list consisting of cannon fodd.... I mean Skinks!

    Lizardmen Army-5000 pts

    Heroes

1 Skink Chief, Javelins, light armour, shield, Terradon, Sacred Stegadon Helm

1 Skink Chief, Javelins, light armour, shield, Ancient Stegadon, Stegadon Warspear

1 Skink Chief, BSB, javelins, light armour, shield, Horned One

1 Skink Chief, Spear, light armour, shield, Terradon, Staff of the Lost Sun, Bane Head

1 Skink Priest, Level 2, Ancient Stegadon with Engine of the Gods, Wardrums of Xahutec, Plaque of Tepok

1 Skink Priest, Level 2, Ancient Stegadon with Engine of the Gods, Rod of the Storm, Dispel Scroll

    Tetto’Eko

1 Skink Priest, Level Two, Dispel Scroll, Diadem of Power

    Core

    3 x 20 Skinks, Full Command

    2 x 16 Skinks, Full Command, 2 Kroxigor

    4 x 10 Skinks

    4 x 10 Skink Skirmishers

    Special

    2 x 9 Chameleon Skinks

    3 x 4 Terradons

    2 x 1 Stegadon

    Rare

    2 x 1 Salamander, Extra Handler

    2 x 3 Razordons

Okay, so this list centers around a lot of units with high SCR winning. Sure, that does not fix stubborn units, etc., but it is a good way to break the enemy. To do this, I need to 1) redirect nasty stuff away from my flanks, and 2) divert stuff to expose flanks. Thus the cheap expendable units. Obviously the Skinks cannot do it themselves, so I threw in some Stegadons and a couple Kroxigor to help out.

    Thoughts?

Alright, if I had a hat, I'd take it off. I've always wondered why people won't try an all skink army. O/G players do goblin only lists all the time. Admittedly, when don't two types of fast cavalry as a core, but still, we get stegadons in abundance. Plus, skinks make up for bad leadership with coldblooded. As for your list, I think congrats are in order for actually taking a horned one. I've never seen one used in a game, and the old school models are awesome. One idea i'd like to throw out to you is the skavenpelt banner. I know youd have to trade in your horned one and have the chief go on foot, but you could stick him in a decent sized skrox unit and actually do some good damage. I've tried it before, and it actually works pretty well, assuming you don't frenzy change into the front of something hard like chaos warriors. The one thing I think i would change is the razordon packs. I'm not a huge fan of them, especially in big groups. If you traded them in, you could have points left over another steg, which is far more survivable.

Be sure to tell us how your battle works out. Lists like this tend to work out like the all gobbo lists, they may not win all the time, but it'll be the most fun you'll ever have while loosing.

An all Skink army can be fun and sometimes if well played pretty good, but against WoC you'll have a problem, their elite is so strong, you've got to be really lucky if a Skink wounds one, the Kroxi's can work so can the steggie's, but you don't have that much of them for this point level, BA will kill some, but still I'm not sure if it will work, plz give a battle report after the match I really want to know how it went, I'm so curious about this :)

That...is well over 200 skinks. Which, theoretically, is well over 400 shots. I'd hate to be on the receiving end of such a volley.

Fortunately, I'm on the giving end :)

Good luck with the battle plan. Just out of curiosity, what IS the battle plan?

    Yours in scales,

400 Shots, hitting on 5's, (6's if they move), means 133 hits (67 hits), of which 22 (11) would be poisoned. Results in a grand total of 59 (29) wounds.

Against a 3+ Armour Save, of Chaos Warriors, that's 39 (19) Saved, or 20 (10) Failed Armour Saves. That's an entire armies shooting to kill at most a single block of Chaos Warriors.

Could go one stage further, and have them tooled up Chaos Knights of Nurgle with the Blasted Standard and Regeneration - resulting in hitting on 6's, 7 if they moved, wounding on 5's, saved on 2+'s, followed by a 5+ Ward Save, and a 4+ Regeneration. At 5000 points, that's not too effective ;) But the sheer amount of shots is really quite amazing.
