hey, what are everyones thoughts about tehenhauin? hes not too many points, seeing how he is a lord. My friend plays Skaven, so when i noticed that tehenhauin and skinks "hates" all units in a skaven army, i knew i had to use tehenhauin when i go up against my friend. I have about 126 skinks in my army, so tehenhauin will definitely give them a boost. the only thing that seems questionable is his survivability. his toughness isnt very impressive for a lord and his ward save isnt too awesome. Youd think that someone being watched over by Sotek himself would have a bit of a better ward save than that. so with his weak defense, what would be the best way to ensure his survivability. He is obviously a close combat character and so i must find an effective way to get him there. another question: can tehenhauin use magic items, like scimitar of the sun resplendant and other things like plaque of tepok? what about magic armor? some magical armor would definitely help him in combat. what do you all think then?
Welcome to Lizardmen 7th edition, in which every special character is inexplicably priced around 1/3 more expensive than they should be!
I find that Tehenhauin (like most Lizardmen special characters) is essentially just a gimmick. He is fun to use, but not terribly worthwhile. The things that he has going for him are you can take him in a 1000 pt army, and he is the only thing in the Lizardmen army capable of casting Transformation of Kadon. The hatred against Skaven isn’t really useful as Skinks will still lose close combat against most units. Of course if you play your friend often you have to bring Tehenhauin at least once to have fun and try him out.
I've used him a few times so far in 8th edition. He usually is not worth his points. One game, I took him and a beasts slann to ensure that he gets the transformation spell. I did not get the spell off during that game. He is worth playing. I have yet to play him against skaven, however, that could be fun in a higher point battle (as I like to take my slann against rats).
