8th Ed. Lizardmen Tourny list - 2000 pts

    Going to my first tourny with lizardmen. Have the following as a list:

    LORDS:

    Slann Mage Priest, Lore of Life, Channeling staff, ironcurse icon, Harmonic Convergance, Soul of Stone, Becalming Cogitation, Harrowing Scrutiny

    HEROES:
    Skink Priest level 1, dispell scroll, lore of beasts
    Saurous Scar vet, cold one, armour of destiny, spear
    Saurous scar vet, talasmin pf preservation, light armour, sheild, cold one, warrior bane

    CORE:
    36 Saurous wars, hand wep/sheild. full command
    10 Skink Skirmishers, Blowpipes
    10 Skink Skirmishers, Blowpipes
    10 Skink Skirmishers, Blowpipes

    SPECIAL:
    Temple Guard x 15. full command, banner of eternal flame, and tormenter sword
    Terradons x 3

    RARE
    Salamander Hunting Pack
    Salamander Hunting Pack


    The plan is to muck them up as much as I can with skinks, get a charge off with the main block of warriors. hope for a flank charge with the temp guards.


    Two of the scinarios involve offing characters (BSBs and mages, respectivly) so I expect a lot of death magic.

    Im unsure of going Life magic or Death myself.


    Any feedback would be appreciated.

    A few thoughts:

    1) Save some points by ditching harrowing scrutiny and champs in your units in favor of adding more TG; they're too small to be a decent combat block considering they hit second most of the time. If you can't find enough points knock your saurus down a few and get the TG up to at least 20.

    2) Make either your slann or a scar-vet a BSB. If it's on your scarvet it can't be a magic banner. I like standard of discipline on a slann; it makes your army cold-blooded on a 10.

    3) Ditch the spear on the scar-vet they have low initiative anyway so +2 str all the time is better than +1 str only on the charge. Also to save a few more points you could try a dragonhelm on the other scar vet in lieu of the talisman. It makes him more situational, but saves a lot of points and can get you to a 1+ and let you have a GW or better magic weapon. You can give him a luckstone to make him a bit more survivable.

    4) Lastly perhaps you should consider loremastery of high magic; arcane unforging is a decent sniping spell and you can swap for the death signature. Apotheosis is a good one to cast for swapping to a life spell you might want to try for since that will give you the lifebloom attribute. Also don't overlook beasts for a second wyssans. Walk between worlds also makes it a lot easier to get your saurus into combat or your salamanders into position. Ands one more for the road actually now that I've noticed it... Give your salamanders the extra handler.
