After building some of my Saurus warriors I thought a lizardmen video game would work. They could A: use dull music starring a one dimensional protagonist that does not have miniature released for him. It would be short with hanger ending. Thus a disappointing game only semi cherished by the lizardman fans. OOOOOORRRRRRRR B:Have a good soundtrack. At least most of the special character are playable(Including the Slann). They good would be at least 30 hours in length. Fictions bias Dark Elves, Skaven, Chaos demons are portray and buffoons. What would you want the hypothetical Lustria: The video game
What type of game would this be ? (adventure, RPG, RTS, FPS, etc...) And obviously B: is better than A:
Dynasty Warriors-type of game with a scar-vet/oldblood. That's probably the best depiction we could get. I would definitely get a game like that, though. I don't think they'd be able to pull off most of the rpg/typical action game types they'd come up with. Or maybe a survival/stealth game as a skink, killing invaders in lustria.
n810 For you question I was thinking a first person RPG with a series of mission or levels or a sandbox style like in GTA though obviously in Lustria with the focus on Lizardmen culture exploration and fighting their enemies rather than crime. SilverFaith Ideally the game would allow the play to control all four types in no order Kroxigor, Slann, Saurus, and Skink. Of course the Shinks might use sleuth while a Saurus would employ brute force.
Can't really imagine a Slann doing anything a player would find interesting. They work too slowly, or just sit tight while blasting things with magic. Can't see the fun in that. A fullblown open world with a skink character would be interesting though. Hunting intruders, finding a Ripperdon/terradon egg, raising it, using it as a mount... capturing a stegadon for the purpose of crushing a small campsite of some pesky elves, getting a razordon for some heavy ranged minigun action, or a salamander for burning down encampments, etc. Skinks do everything, and having a super-skink of some sort doing all of those things would be pretty interesting. Would even allow magic to some extent. Saurus would work too, but their lack of meaningful characterizatioon makes skinks a more obvious choice in my opinion. And this comes from a guy who loves our saurus so much I made a list consisting EXCLUSIVELY of them, wizard included. Kroxigors are dumb brutes who are workers first, fighters second, and only because they happen to be ridiculously strong. I don't see them being a good playable choice honestly.
Now it would be fun to play as Mazdmandi on his Stegadon while plowing threw dark elves, skaven, ravers, corrupt politicians while blasting powerful spells at them.
Exactly. An RPG video game isa type of story. In a story, I think Slann should be terrifying and remote even to their own servants, perhaps especially to their own servants. RPGs tend to deal with exceptional individuals and an exceptional Saurus could have depth. Of course a narrative story focused on a smart Saurus could drastically change the fluff. In the original Star Trek series, Spock was considered uptight by Vulcans (he was compensating for being half-Human). Successive writers decided to make Spock a liberal Vulcan and Vulcans got more and more stodgy with each new iteration of Star Trek. I'm not sure I want that to happen to Sauri. I don't see a lot of desire to make an exceptional Kroxigor. Sometimes you need dumb brutes. Might be good for a Skink story to have a Kroxigor level. The Kroxigor does most of the killing, but you have to babysit the big guy so he doesn't blunder into his death.
If Slann were playable it probably not not be an RPG since a Slann but a for a level based game or maybe the player briefly plays as a Slann in an RPG.
or perhaps the Slann would mostly be a NPC giving you all of your missions. (as prophesied by the old ones)
