I'm thinking about runing a lone slann either with 2+ vs. shooting and MR 3 or Ethereal and MR 3. With Lore of Life you can pretty much be assured that miscasts don't hurt you even if you don't get throne of vines through since every miscast result wounds things arround the slann and he can regain wounds with every cast. ofcourse there is a chance he will visit the realm of chaos for the summer or just forget how to be a wizard, but given the fact that now you can choose when to use cupped hands you can wait till you roll the really nasty ones and pass those on.
With the model being as it is LoS won't be a problem... ever probably and you can just keep a Saurus unit close by for when it comes to CC.

I can see many problems with this, including the inability to take TG and the chance that some cannon hits the slann and you fail that 2+ and he gets killed instantly 'cause your opponent is a lucky basterd but i was wandering what you guys think.

    Hai, I'm back btw!

Hmm. I myself am being increasingly won over by the 'take Temple guard' school, though this by no means implies that lone Slann doesn't work.

A Slann with 100 points invested in defensive items/disciplines hiding behind a combat unit...

    OR

A Slann with no defense hiding in a unit of Temple Guard.

For me, the Temple Guard seem better. Particularly with Life due to miscast mitigation and the ability to convey Regeneration to the Temple Guard.

I've always been a fan of Temple Guard. Where I game there are too many guys whom love to snipe lone characters with war machines or fast cavalry. Temple Guard are tough as nails and with the Lore of Life they are even tougher!

I have just run mine with 2+ ward and then a skink unit with musician which he can join if he needs look out sir against cannons, purple sun, etc.

But yeah with Life magic temple guards seem pretty good.
