Hey guys. Finally managed to sell my Brets and all my 40k stuff. Looking at now Ordering my new Lizardmen army this Monday ( been putting it off for way too long ! ). Anyways, been trying to convince the GF to play another army but she's having none of it. So now i'm stuck trying to think of fluff for my Lizardmen army to be that would tie into her Wood Elf army. Here is what I thinking so far : ( I do not know alot about the background etc of alot of Warhammer stuff so comments / help etc is wanted ) Skink priests / Slan together with Spellweaver / singers perhaps transformed a small part of Athel Loren into a mmore Lustria type area. I'd make my lizardmen from one of those '' tribes '' that ventured out into the world before the sinking of the city in Lustria. ( I think I read they ventured out and got cut off ). Perhaps a Plaque was found in Athel Loren and my lizardmen went to retrieve it - Made ties with the Wood Elves then.. Thats about all I have for now, yes very small and just basic idea's. I have no idea how to start or anything so any help and idea's are welcome! Her Wood Elves are painted to an Autumn theme I was going to use Greens / Oranges / yellows for my Lizardmen to give both armies abit of cohesion. I was also wondering if it would be ' legal ' in GW Tornies to use the Amazon Women models for Skink Priests ? Thanks in Advance guys Take care Jay ~
Here's an idea: You know since the Old Ones created Athel Loren, perhaps they spawned some Lizardmen there, before creating the entire race in Lustria. The small group in Loren seldomly spawned, but without the ravage of war from the Skaven and Chaos, they prospered. Not sure if that's what you're looking for, but you could build it up from there
Being an avid WE player I can tell you that it'll be highly difficult to combine story arcs from the two races. Your talking about the two most hermetic races (for good) in the entire Warhammer world. Both races stay in their own realm except for the wild hunt of the WEs during the summer and the southland tribes of the lizardmen (the cut off group of lizardmen you mentioned). You could possibly work the whole lost plaque idea but definately not the changing of the forrest. The forrest spirits wouldn't put up with it and would revolt against the Wood Elves, that's if the WEs even allowed such a blasphemous thing to occur inside Athel Loren LoL. And there was never anyone in Athel Loren besides the forrest spirits until High Elven explorers settled in there before the Sundering.
Do remember too that fluffwise Elves+Lizardmen=/=Friendly. You can thank them there Dark Elves for that. You could of course say that your lizards are doing something about the Beastmen that are seemingly without number but still can't destroy Athel loren. Beastmen are after all nothing that the Old ones intended, and are touched by Chaos. Cheers!
I'd be inclined to go along a route where neither race was in their natural home. If it was my choice I'd pick Albion. Everyone went there when the campaign was on. Afterwards/during Mazdamundi transformed part of the island to jungle climate iirc. Make up some fluff about the wood elves and lizards finding a common foe... maybe an elf scouting party ran into the lizardmen fighting a large group of undead/beastmen and helped them out and afterwards the mage priest determined they could be used to further the old ones plans and the wood elves, being stuck far from home and outnumbered, decided they had enough in common to stay and fight. If you're on Albion it also gives you a good reason to fight all other armies. Failing that you could go on the plaque idea and that it coincides with a vision one of the spell weavers had...
Thanks for the input guys ! We'll deffinatly give some thought to it. Possibly the Albion / Plaque thing. Yeah I know it was hard but I think these are the two armies we'll be going for, especially for doubles. The only other army she has been looking at is High elves, but that is more for test painting. Thanks again guys ! ~ Will be ordering my army come Monday.
