I really like the Ripperdactyl Riders, the models, the rules, the fluff, they're lovely! I'm not sure how to build an army around them though, especially low point ones. I would like to hear some thoughts and advice what I should think about fielding them in a 1000p army. It's for friendly environment and I will mainly play against OnG.

    Heroes:

    Saurus Scar-Veteran
    Sword of Might
    Enchanted Shield
    Dawnstone
    Light Armor

    Skink Priest (Lore of Beasts)
    Dispel Scroll

    Core:

    Saurus Warriors x19
    Full Command

    Skink Skirmishers x10
    Javelins and Shields

    Skink Skirmishers x10
    Javelins and Shields

    Special

    Ripperdactyl Riders x4

    Rare

    Salamander Hunting Pack x2

    Total: 925p

So I have 75 points to spend somewhere, should I get extra snacks for the sallies and a unit of skink cohorts? Or do I need some hard hitter for flank attacks? Please help!

Your list is actually quite good. Your hero choices and your core choices are both smart, and Salamanders and rippers are both good choices against OnG, who are generally infantry heavy.

If it were me, my two goals would be to get another unit of skink skirmishers and enlarge the block of saurus. Skink skirmishers are great against fanatics, as they let you trigger them cheaply and then shoot them down without putting much at risk. (Fanatics are very dangerous to rippers.)

Also, Skink Skirmishers are super important for deployment. If you have a lot of them you can deploy them first, forcing your opponent to start deploying real units, and then you can decide where to line up your combat units to get the matchups you want. It's one of the most valuable services they offer.

Rippers are harder to use at low point values, because you don't get enough toad markers and warmachines are less prevalent. If you had a larger block of rippers, and he has a block of savage orcs, I would advise you to force a frenzy charge with your skinks, drag them out of position, and then get in the flank with the rippers. But that won't work with only 4 rippers.

    Thanks RipperDerek!
I've read a couple of your posts regarding rippers, great stuff! At first I was building around having a skrox block and a bastiladon, but you've actually inspired me to build more around rippers instead, and now I want them wherever I go :)
I will add some more saurus and skirmishers to fill up my allowance.
    Thanks again!

You could drop the Rippers down to 3 and take a second unit of 3. :D

Seems like 2x 3 units of Rippers in a 1000 pt battle would mess stuff up, they'll easily be able to reach their targets due to double markers and the low number of units on the battlefield, and combined they should be able to take on some shit with their toad markers.

Hiya! Looks pretty similar to my 1000 point list, though I'm not all that experienced, mind you.

As for those other 75 points, you might put that priest in something protect-y. I'm running mine with 9x Skink Cohorts. Depending on what you're up against, something like an Ironcurse Icon might be good?
