Hi esteemed forumites. I am a very new player to WHFB, and my chosen army is Lizardmen. Im a long time lurker in this forums and most of the discussions have helped me understand my army better. im going to play in my first ever tourney next weekend, unfortunately its a BYOC (bring your own cheese) tournament, where the TO have challenged the players to bring as cheesy a list as possible. Can anybody recommend a full on cheese list for lizardmen, i'd like to not scrub out of my 1st tourney. The games are 2250 points, no comp. additionally, here are a list of opponents, stuff i expect to face: 1 empire (steam tank, 2 cannons, helblaster and outriders) 3 dark elf (ring of Hotek, pendant of khaleth, hydra and rbt) 1 deamon (bloodthirster, masques, flamers) 1 WoC (troll army, marauder and a bunch of wizards on disk) 1 OnG (6 bolt throwers and 4 fanatics) I dont have every model or a complete army, but i will design as close as i could to your suggestions.
Well there's the 7 steg army, and theres the multiple EotG and a Slann List.... Thoose are usualy the list that get all the cries of CHEESE!
i played in one of these a while back, used kroak, chaxak, TG, and 2 EotG, with some skinks to make up the cores in each game i basically used all kroaks dice plus the pool (i.e. 6) to cast deliverance on 24" range, with that ammount of dice, it either miscasts (booo, but at least he's immune to them), irresistables (yay!) or needs scrolling, as few people will risk the dice. other than that, the TG marched up the centre supported by the rest, the engines to protect from shooting and then burning alignment anything that got into the TG. once combat was joined, i tried casting deliverance on the 6" range 3 times with 2 dice per try, but that didnt seem to work as well. in one game i managed 3 IFs on turns 1-3, all that was left after that was malekith if i was making my army again, i'd probably drop chaxak and get another stegadon tbh.
Thanks for the replies, I thought about using the mummified froggie too, but we have a stickler about models in our shop. Since I dont have his model, im just gonna use a regular Slann in his place. Here is something I came up with, with your suggestion in mind. >Slann 375 Rumination Mistery BSB War banner >EOTG 290 >EOTG 290 >Flying Saurus Of Doom 124 (using Chakax model ) JAG Charm GW Shield Armor >18 Sauri Warriors 228 Banner >10 Skirmishers 70 >10 Skirmishers 70 >Baby Steg 235 >3 Terradons 90 >15 Temple Guard 268 Champ Banner ToTal: 2240 (if math is correct) Please C&C this list against the armies i mentioned in the OP. Oh, and all i can think of for the remaining pts, is a musician, however im torn between the 2 blocks. Where do you think it should go? Otherwise, if anyone can think of a way to free up 5 pts, i'd love to take a plaque of tepok on one of the engines.
i fail to see the cheese in the opponents lists i face that on a regular basis in 1000-1500 pt games, its hard but its no way cheesy, 1 Stank is very managable with either BoR or Spirit of the Forge while the warmahcines fall to terradons or unlimited range magic missiles from he lore of heavens, also outriders are gonna be messed up by skink either by directing fire at them or by ignoring them and getting poisoned to death hydra + rbt? thats 1 hydra less to worry about, thank all things green and move along, also i don't see a dragon mention with the dreaded inverted ward save + regen combo if by masques you mean the masque shes quite hard but she has a max range of 12" on her abilities, it can be controlled. if you mean demonettes at least they aren't plaguebearers. the BT is still hard and if he has the obisidan armor there isn't much you can do to it except mass poison and spirit of the forge + bane head and hope for IF or he rolls snake eye for his dispells WoC are a generally weak army, except the gateway spam pwoerbuild they are quite managable. lore of fire makes short work of any troll and even lore of metal since it has a magic missile and also any knight killed is wroth 40 pts, lore of metal on all his knights and trolls won't be a problem. if he relies on trolls and brings little/no knights go with lore of fire and you will have the burning alignment and uranons thunderbolt to deal with the few knights he has OnG aren't cheesy. they rely more on luck than 6th skaven. if they are lucky they will wipe the floor with you with the friendlyest list, if they are unlucky the cheesyest list will get a draw with the best tactics. a steg spam list might be to cheesy for the lists you posted, dual eotg slann should be fine... i think, still risky
@Bibamus: Awesome post, im still new to this game so i cant actually spot cheese yet. The units i mentioned in the brackets, are not actually meant to be the cheese, but more along the lines of the stuff i remember from their lists... from your input, that makes me want to find a way to put in a bane head on my slaan. Could you comment on my list as well?
