I have a an old friend coming to town that I used to play WHFB with about 12 years ago. I played lizard men then and I am playing them again. Luckily I bought the LM army set just to paint. Long story short I need to bone up on 8th edition rules and I need to build two army sets. My friend will be playing a VC army My game plan so far is to invest in magic for both armies and from what I have read life is the way to go against VC. First army needs to be 1K this will be the familiarization round. The next will be 2200. My overall strategy is to grind my army forward into H2H and wipe out as much as I can in the magic phase. I will be posting my army lists here in the next few weeks. In the mean time does anyone have any suggestions.
A Slann are practically a must have. Skink Skirmishers are a excellent unit and so are Salamanders. But you probably knew that. As for tactics against VC, well, I don't know much besides there zombies are really cheap and there lords and heroes are pretty powerful.
The lore of light does double (or more, at least) damage to undead. Take a light slann and you'll be a happy chappy
Here is what I have so far for the 1K. Scar vet piranha blade bane head LA, Shield, General 19 Saurus w/ full command spears, shield 10 Skink skirmishers jav, shield Skink priest Cupped hands comet of Casandora Stegadon Skink chief BSB 3 terrains riders. The plan is to screen and harass with skinks until Saurus can pin VC General. Stegadon will attempt to flank. Terradons will handle any war machines. I am hoping for one good round from my priest and the comet. Let me know what you think.
Hi Howlin Unfortunately you can't pick your spell for the priest, you have to roll randomly. I would take out the cupped hands and add the cube of darkness. You won't get many spells off against a VC player so just play magic defensively. Another thing is that Skink BSB is just giving points to your enemy. He is a big target and easy to kill. Take him out and add in another 10 skinks skirmishes. More bang for your buck.
