Ok- on D. net someone brilliantly thought to sum up effective builds and favourites that have shown up in 8th. This goes along with the Hero Build thread, with the same idea behind it. Build, Points and WHY?
Fav Old Blood Build: Armor of Destiny Aura of Quetzel Poison of the Firefly Frog Great Weapon Why? I love having WS 6, T 5, 5 Str 7 Magical/Poisoned Attacks, AS 2+, WS 4+, -1 to be hit in CC. I'll often toss him on a cold one to make it AS 1+ if I am fielding a unit of CoC. This guy is one tough nut to crack and can dish out some serious pain at the same time. Fav Slann Build (pretty standard stuff here): Becalming, Rumination, Mystery. Lore of Life. Feedback Scroll, Bane Head. BSB w/ Standard of Discipline. Why? Well, rerollable leadership 10 is very nice. Pretty much everyone takes cupped hands and my opponents expect it on a Slann but I find I rarely, if ever, miscast (if I do that's what Throne of Vines is for) and that that item goes to waste so much. With Feedback/Bane Head I am essentially guaranteeing one nuked caster on the opposing side imo. I particularly love the combo against guys like Mannfred and Teclis.
See- this is where I'm a newb; This is the best I could come up with The Challenger 230 or 260 pts -Light Armour -Cold One (optional) =Maiming Shield =Venom of Firefly Frog =Piranha Blade 0+ AS (and if mounted on a Cold One, it can stay @ 0 up to a s5 hit) 6 magic/ poison attacks that double on success- FUN for Challenges!
You can't have a 0+ armour save any more. 1+ is the maximum. Also, poison does not work with magical weapons (unless the magic weapon itself gives poison, though I'm not sure there are any such weapons) so his attacks will not be poisoned.
Slann - BSB Focused Rumination Focus of Mystery Standard of Dicipline Blood Statuette of Spite (optional) I like my Slann fairly cheep and bare bones because the less you spend on characters the more you spend on units. This build makes my Slann very effective and depending on the army I'm facing the BSoS has never let me down though I won't take it where my opponent has characters of T4 or better. Old Blood - Carnosaur Slaughter's Blade Maiming Shield Light Armour Expensive however it's a unit killer all by itself. With 14 attacks and 5 (after Blood Frenzy) being Str 7 it's a beast. I built my model low to the ground as well so it can hide behind units better now that we go off true line of sight. The armour save is sufficient to see off attacks from regular infantry and many heros. This guy is stricktly a unit killer though, I pit him against other characters. Old Blood - Cold One Giant Blade Dawn Stone Light Armour Shield This guy is specifically designed to take out Hell Pit Abominations, Hydras and (to a lesser extent) Dragons and Steam Tanks. Strength 8 with 5 attacks means this guy strikes before Hydras, Dragons (except the small HE ones) and Steam Tanks and simultatious of HPA. I love to put him in a CoC unit with Banner of Eternal Flame where his handful of attacks now no longer allow regeneration. Also, no armour save with his high Strength.
Slaan – Life, Becalming, Rumination, Plaque of Tepok, Standard of dicipline=380 Cheaper FTW. Oldblood – Carno, Halberd, Armour of Destiny, Dawnstone, Firefly venom=448 Chop, munch, stomp! Oldblood – Light Armour, Sword of bloodshed, Maiming shield=245 Charge my temple guard i dare ya.
Probs just being blind here, but what page is armour of destiny? (I'm new to lizardmen and cant see it - probably cant see for looking though!) Thanks
thought about trying to make a pure tank oldblood aka through him at a squad and just let him hold them up by himself. but I have a question if something says can reroll armor saves would that work on ward saves?
No, just armor saves. I do enjoy dawnstone builds for my saurus, however I often go up against nasty things with killing blow and it ends poorly for me without my ward.
