Hi nice list but very come and get me. If you have lore of life though then you don't need the cupped hands, use vines instead. Have you thought of taking a character. They are lots of fun. And unlike a lot of other armies the lower cost ones give you a little extra stuff without costing te earth. For example instead of your skink priest you could take Tetto'eko. If you want to have EOG then Tehenhuain is fun. you could loose te Krox and use two swarms to guard you flanks cheaper and do the job just as well. Use the points from the difference and no cupped hands to pay for Gor Roc to lead one of your Saurus units that becomes stubborn and he is awesome in close combat. Chakax in your TG will also add another dimension to this unit and is particularly good against dark elves and other sneaky types.! Finally at 4000 points have you considered taking two Slaan one buffed up etherial and free roaming and the other safe in the TG? One could be offensive choose dependant on the enemy, the other defensive (life). It puts doubt in your opponents mind and gives you options. Sorry one more comment hopefully constructive. Have you though of more steggies. For example use steggies instead of your Krox? You would have to thin out something else as well but the extra shooting might be a battle winner. Hopefully food for thought for you.
All of our special characters are way too expensive to play. With the exception of Tetto'etto. He is well worth the points. Just the re-deployment of d3 units is worth his points. Not to mention re-rolling comet. However, they are fun to play. Tehenhuain is fun but he is also 540 points (with the stegadon). Tehenhuain is more fun to play with a beasts slann. That way, you ensure that he gets the transformation of kadon spell (as the slann cannot use that spell). Anyway, on to your list. I think it is a pretty stable list. I would only change the chameleons. I would take four units of 5 or 2 units of 8 and one of 6. That way, you can go after more targets or concentrate on the important ones without worrying about the unit getting shot up. Taking two slanns is a cool way to go as well. I like to take a life and a light slann. I have tried to take a Death slann with the life slann, but I like the light slann with the life slann. It really strengthens your magic and buffs. I also take a level one priest with the forbidden rod (adds d6 dice to the magic pool) and causes d3 wounds. I put the talisman that offers a 4+ ward vs the first wound. Out of about 25 games, I have lost this guy about 8 times. It is well worth it when you roll a winds of magic of 3! Cupped hands: If I take one slann, he has it regardless of the lore that I take. I do this because, I have rolled 1s on my throne of vines enough to need that extra protection! Throne of vines happens first, then you would envoke cupped hands. I have actually failed both rolls in one game! Two 1s back to back. Hope this helps.
I disagree about the expense of the characters. Unless you are in a tournament who care about probability and numbers, yes you need to have an eye on them to compete but actually a buffed up old blood is not that much cheaper than Gor Roc and the white lizard is just so much cooler. Also if you really want to wrap your Slaan in cotton wool Chakax is awesome, having to issue a challenge from him is also fun as he takes out a model worth half his points again. How many times when you have taken life have you had cupped hands and it hasnt been used? Probably more times than you rolled ones back to back? Agreed about the forbidden rod with the slaans extra dice it is a game winner and a priest would willingly give his life for the plan of the old ones. I have to say that it sounds as if the dice gods haven't been your friend Regards
Yea sometimes they come down on me. Other times, it's like I have sacrificed a puppy to them (lol). I have needed cupped hands and not had it more times than not. So, I take in most games regardless of the lore.
