Hi all. I have an upcoming 2000 points battle, in which there will be 4 armies at once, Choas, Empire, Orcs, and Lizards. Im wondering If I should take Lord Kroak to just dominate the magic phase, or if I should just take a normal slann and compensate with more troops. One problem with a normal slann is I don't have enough models to shore up the point difference, so I end up with roughly 1800 points. Thoughts?

Edit: What lore would be ideal against these armies?

Lore of metal for the chaos. And probably shadow for the orks. Want to force as many Ld tests as possible to deal with Da Boyz. Now is it a 1v1v1v1 battle or a team battle? Both of those lores should be good for dealing with the empire if you are fighting them as well. Beware of and Tzeentch list though. Mighty as Kroak is a pure casting chaos list is gross/retarded/broken/no fun to play against. Fight hard and let us know how it goes.

The battle is going to be a large 4 way free for all. Winner is the last man standing. I'm leaning towards Metal atm, cause it seems like the best damage dealer.

If you can't fit enough models, might as well take Kroak. Knows 8 spells, 6 of your choosing, 10 wounds, 2+ ward save against everything and 3+ in combat? PLUS magical weapons don't work, he's -1 to hit, gets +2 to do anything and that extra di AND he'll crush an entire army with Ruination of Cities PLUS in comat his autohits every model, and if they're daemons it's extra powerful. Not to mention the MR...so yeah, he kicks ass.

I really do wanna take kroak, but Im worried I won't have enough solid units to back him up. Maybe if he just heads to the board edge and hangs there for the rest of the game.

Just be sure you're in range with you spells, lol. He's NOT easy to kill, so don't be worried to haul him out there, some nearby Terradons or Krox's are more then enough to protect him. Keep in mind with him, all you have to do is defend combat while he magics the hell out of the board.

I have no kroxigars or terradons (waiting for the new edition) so Im going to give him a unit of saurus with tlazcotl, with a BSB scarvet in their ranks, and have 2 priests scout out to terrain to be his eyes. Then the rest of the points will be skinks to harass people. I also have 2 sallies, but I don't know what to do with them. I want to defend kroak, cause if he dies Im screwed, but I also wanna get out there and fry some chaos.

:( My chaos friend has just informed me that he will be taking a magic heavy army. 5 mages, and a bunch of rock solid warriors of chaos.

Btw, keep in mind Kroak can actually cast FROM other models if I recall correctly. My GW is allowing me to make a 7th edition list, so I'll be back on here Friday with my 7th edition 2250 list!

    Dalkarius is right.
If you planing to field Kroak, you could place him at the back at you deplyment zone and send some priests out for him to cast through.
Just bombard him with all you got and his got to come to you. Besides, if his fielding warriors, the best spell you can cast must be the Runination of Cities spell. Make him crawl :meh:
