Hello, I just started playing fantasy and I play 40k. My LFGS is hosting an arena style tournament using only lords. The rules are must follow codex, no mounts and no wizards.
The load out i decided on is:
    Saurus Oldblood:
    Armour of Destiny
    Shield
    Piranha Blade
    Bane Head
    Points: 251

My questions are, is this legal for my codex, how well do you all think this will do and does the Oldblood cause 4 wounds for every 1 unsaved wound the enemy takes?
    Thanks

    (Edit for rules update)

It is a good build for the rulebook (codex). The Oldblood is one of the best combat options in Warhammer Fantasy. If you can, put the Old Blood on a Carnosaur or a Cold one. That way, you get a much better armor save at least (with the cold one) or the extra killing power that the Carnosaur brings.

I knew i was forgetting something, mounts aren't allowed either and the lords start 15 inches apart at the beginning.

Thanks for the reply, now to get the model painted. :D

Another thing to think about is taking an extra hand weapon and venom of the firefly frog. That would make your attacks poison at str 5. You could even go with a great weapon and the venom which would give you poison attacks at str 7. You would be going last, but when you did, you would do some serious damage that would potentially nullify the armor of your opponents.

The only weakness of the Saurus Oldblood is his initiative - however, as Lizardmen, we must face the fact that we are slow but when we do get round to landing blows, they hurt.

As opponents' Lords could have No Armour Save weapons, I suggest a talisman to give your Oldblood a ward save. Alternatively, you could use potion of toughness to laugh at puny strength attacks vs. your toughness 8. Or, maybe even the simple glittering scales magic armour, -1 To Hit for your enemy.

However, personally, the Banehead-Piranha blade combo is brilliant - yes, one unsaved wound is multiplied by two twice, causing four wounds!

    What about this:

    Saurus Oldblood
    Great weapon
Talisman of Preservation (4+ Ward Save?)
    Banehead
    Glittering Scales

Or replace Banehead with Venom and take Burning blade (no regen and a total of -4 to armour saves) and a shield.

    I prefer banehead.

Armor of Destiny has a ward save. It is literally the 4+ ward talisman as Heavy armor for +5 points. VotFF doesn't work in conjunction with magic weapons either.

Honestly, the OP build is the one that I used all the time, and it is pretty crazy, probably one of the deadliest builds in the book, if not 8th as a whole (for an infantry character, at least). I've found that the Burning Blade and VotFF typically work better on scar-vets bulking out saurus blocks.
